MONDAY, FEB. 27
Boot Camp. Student Recreation Center. 6:15-7:15 a.m. The REC invites
the campus community to improve their endurance, strength, speed and mental
stamina in this eight-week fitness program. Fitness tests will be conducted

TUESDAY, FEB. 28
SPB Films: “Scarface.” Special Events Center. 2:30 and 7 p.m. Join
the student programs board for a screening of the hit Al Pacino film “Scarface.”

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1
“Measure for Measure.” Morrison Center Stage II. 7:30 p.m. March 1-4;
and March 8-11; 2 p.m. March 5 and 12. One of Shakespeare’s most topical and
contemporary plays, “Measure for Measure” examines the corruptive
temptations of power and the ambiguous nature of justice. $12; free for

FRIDAY, MARCH 3
“Idaho Sustainability: What Will It Take?” Student Union Jordan
Ballroom. 7 p.m. Join Alan Thein Durning, founder and executive director of
the Seattle-based Northwest Environment Watch for this lecture. Sponsored by
the Boise State department of biology and Sustainable Idaho, a non-profit
organization that promotes understanding and the adoption of sustainable
environmental practices in Idaho. Presented as part of the Idaho

Sawtooth Mountain Film Festival. Boise State Special Events Center.
7:30-10 p.m. This event will feature a collection of juried outdoor
adventure films from both international and local filmmakers. All attendants
will be eligible for raffle prizes and giveaways. Tickets are available

Paris Piano Trio. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 8 p.m. This event,
presented as part of the Boise Chamber Music Series, features renowned
French musicians Regis Pasquier, violin, Roland Pidoux, cello, and

Women’s History Month: Money Wise Women Conference. Student Union
Jordan Ballroom. 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. This event offers financial strategies and
advice for women. Free. Register online at

Wilderness First Aid Course. Student Recreation Center Outdoor
Programs Classroom. 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. March 4-5. Whether you’re a
backpacker, hunter, weekend warrior or professional guide, the information
presented in this seminar could prove invaluable if you or someone in your
party is injured in the outdoors. Open to the public. Register by Feb. 28;

Upcoming Events
MONDAY, MARCH 6-7
Mexican American Studies Conference. March 6 and 7 in the Student
Union Building. Boise State University will celebrate its sixth Mexican
American Studies Conference with a full slate of events. The keynote speaker
for this year’s conference, “Nuestra Historia, Nuestro Futuro,” is Jorge
Mariscal at 7:30 p.m. March 7. Other featured conference speakers are Yreina
Cervántez, Max Delgado, Erasmo Gamboa and Perla Rodríguez. The conference is
free, and free parking is available near the Student Union. Call 426-4056.
TUESDAY, MARCH 7
Nutrition and Weight Management Consultation. Student Recreation
Center Fitness Testing and Wellness Room. 4:15 p.m.- 5:15 p.m. The campus
community is invited to drop by to ask questions and chat with qualified
staff about nutrition and weight management issues. Free. Call 426-1459.
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8
International Connections Seminar. Student Union Lookout Room. 12:30
p.m. Join Christy Babcock Quintero as she presents “Gender Roles in Cultures
Around the World.” An accompanying panel of international students will
offer discussion about the roles they play in their own cultures compared to
those they fulfill in the United States. This event, part of the monthly
brown bag luncheon seminar series, is sponsored by the International
Programs Office and the Albertsons Library. Light refreshments will be

Climbing Skills Series. The Student Recreation Center Climbing Wall.
6-8 p.m. The Outdoor Program invites climbers who have passed a belay check
to participate in this progressive climbing skills clinic. Skills addressed
will include anchor building techniques for both natural and bolted sites,
proper usage of quick draws, carabiners, cordelletes, webbing ropes, knots,
hitches and more. $20; registration required 24 hours prior to class. Call

Moab Mountain Biking Trip. Student Recreation Center Classroom. 5-8
p.m. March 8, 15, and 22 for orientation. Participants will depart from the
Outdoor Programs Office at 8 a.m. March 26, and will return to Boise State
by 8 p.m. March 31. Moab, in southern Utah, is one of the world’s premier
mountain biking destinations. Participants will spend their time mountain
biking over slick rock, exploring slot canyons and eating meals beneath the
desert stars. Bikers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Trip fees
include transportation, meals, group camping equipment and leadership.
Personal effects and bikes are participants’ responsibilities. Register by

Surf Safari trip. Boise State Pool. 7-9 p.m. March 8 and 23 for
orientation. Participants will depart the Outdoor Programs Office at 6 a.m.
March 26, and return to Boise State by 8 p.m. April 1. This trip is a chance
to spend a week in San Onofre, California, learning to surf. Activities
include surfing instruction, whale watching and exploring the coastline
around the beach base camp. Trip fees include transportation, meals, surfing
equipment, instruction and group camping equipment. Register by Feb. 28;

THURSDAY, MARCH 9
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. Kinesiology Building, room 216.
4:40- 6:30 p.m. Participants are invited to learn how to consciously and
systematically work out the stress, pain, and challenges of everyday life.

Women’s History Month: Women and Resistance. Special Events Center. 7
p.m. Participants will view and discuss a screening of the film “Daring to

FRIDAY, MARCH 10
Autism Educational Conference. Special Events Center. 8:30 a.m.-4:30
p.m. This day long conference is intended to provide educators and
professionals with current information on the best practices for working
with individuals with autism. Sponsored by the department of education, the

Introduction to Route Setting. Student Recreation Center Climbing
Gym. 4 -7 p.m. The Outdoor Program invites climbers who have passed a basic
climbing clinic or skills check to participate in this workshop on setting
quality routes. This introductory session will teach the basics of route
design, hold and bolt selection, placement and safety. Free. Call 426-1946.
SATURDAY, MARCH 11
Lazer Vaudeville. Morrison Center Main Hall. 2 p.m. This family show
combines high-tech laser magic with the traditional art of vaudeville,
complete with juggling, black light illusion, acrobatics, zany comedy and
audience participation. Presented as part of the Cable One Family Series.
$13 adults, $6 youth 15 and under through Select-a-Seat. $3 lap seats for
children 18 months and younger available only at the Box Office. Call

Faculty Artist Series: Nicole Molumby, Morrison Center Recital Hall.
3 p.m. Boise State flute instructor Nicole Molumby will perform pieces by
composers from Russia, France, Latin America and Israel. The program also
features James Cook and Jerry Jensen on piano and Mariah Devereaux Herbeck
as a guest speaker. $5; free for Boise State faculty, staff and students.

Classic Performances Series: Moscow String Quartet. Special Events
Center. 8 p.m These Moscow Conservatory graduates gained international
acclaim after winning the Leo Weiner International Quartet Competition in
Budapest and the International Quartet Competition in Evian, France. $10; $5
