Glenn Williams, a sculptor and professor, will give a lecture at 7 p.m. March 9 in the Boise State University Student Union Lookout Room. The free event is open to the public and is sponsored by the Boise State Art Department.

Williams, an assistant professor of sculpture at Northwest Missouri State University, mainly uses fabricated steel in his sculptures. His works have appeared around the nation, including the 2004 exhibition Underground Railroad at Northern Kentucky University. Williams’ sculptures use narrative and metaphor to deal with issues of identity.

“I believe that our reality is based on our perception of the truth, a truth that is shaped by our experiences,” Williams said. “In my work I explore various elements of the human condition, particularly those aspects of the human condition that influence our sense of identity. I draw from personal experiences, current political topics, historical references and literary sources to address themes of alienation, growth and perserverance.”
