Boise State Students Win at State Conference, Qualify to
Participate in National Competition
Nine Marketing Management Technology student from Boise State University won
awards at the Idaho Delta Epsilon Chi (DEC) State Career Development
Conference Feb. 23-25 at College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. The
following students won and will compete at the International DEC career
conference in Dallas, Texas, in April.
Ren Garner and David Taylor, Boise, first place, Sports and Entertainment
Marketing
Rene Juza, Boise, first place, Entrepreneurship, second place, Apparel and
Accessories Marketing
Delbert Ogle, Boise, second place, Travel and Tourism Marketing, third
place, Marketing Management
Josh Miller, Kuna, second place, Financial Services Marketing, fifth
place, Marketing Management
Steve Turk, Boise, second place, Entrepreneurship
Keith Essig, Boise, fourth place, Restaurant and Food Service Marketing
Brian McMillan and Keith Essig, Boise, second place, Business-to-Business
Marketing
Monte Szurgot, Boise, second place, Hospitality Marketing, fourth place,
Marketing Management
The students competed against DEC members from Idaho State University,
College of Southern Idaho, Eastern Idaho Technical College and Lewis Clark
State College. DEC is an international organization for college students
preparing for a variety of careers. DEC programs engage students from a
variety of educational disciplines, while maintaining a strong focus on
business-related areas such as marketing, management and entrepreneurship.
Activities promoted by DEC integrate with and enhance the students college
curriculum.
