The Boise State University Women’s Center will present Women’s History Month
in March with a full slate of lectures, workshops, films and other
activities, including the keynote address by international journalist Hadani
Ditmars, author of the bestseller Dancing in the No Fly Zone: a Woman’s
Journey Through Iraq. The speech, at 7 p.m. March 16 in the Student
Union Jordan Ballroom, is free and open to the public.
Other highlights include “The Women from the 116th Speak,” the Money Wi$e
Women conference, “Stories Rarely Heard: Refugee Women Speak,” and the
Women’s History Month national juried art exhibition.
Ditmars will speak about her experiences in Iraq, both before and after the
U.S. invasion, providing unique insight into the culture, humanity and
strength of the Iraqi people. Ditmars’ mixed European and Middle Eastern
heritage has permitted her to pass as an Iraqi woman, giving her many
opportunities not accessible to other journalists. She has made powerful
connections with the women of Iraq and gives voice to their experiences and
struggles.
