Boise State's Intertribal Native Council Hosts Seven Arrows
Pow Wow
The Boise State University Intertribal Native Council will present the 13th
annual Seven Arrows Pow Wow April 1-2 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom.
Admission is $5 through the Student Union Info Desk, and canned food donations will be
accepted for the Native American Council of Boise Food Bank. Grand entries
will be at noon and 7 p.m. April 1 and noon April 2.

This year’s pow wow will feature a speaker, Vernon
Bellecourt, who is the principal spokesman for the American Indian Movement.
Bellecourt has been active in AIM for more than 30 years and was a
participant in the Wounded Knee protest of 1973. He was elected to a
four-year term in the White Earth (Minnesota) tribal government, and
developed a model program for the spiritual education of American Indian
prisoners. He is the president of the National Coalition on Racism in Sports
and Media. He also received the 1993 Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights
Award from Phoenix, Ariz.
Bellecourt will speak at 2 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. April 1 in the Hatch Ballroom.
Admission to his lecture is $10 through the Student Union Information Desk. Other events include
a drum group contest, dance competitions, a one man hand drum special and
dance specials. The emcee this year is Emerson Bill, the arena directors are
Derald Julianto and Andre Picard Jr., the head woman dancer is Terra
Whiterock and the head man dancer is Lenville Smart.
