Poetry Contest. All full-time and part-time Boise State undergraduate
students are invited to submit up to three previously unpublished poems in
this year’s Sigma Tau Delta poetry contest. Entrants must include a cover
page with their name, address, phone number, e-mail address and student ID
number. Submissions may be placed in the box in the English department
office, Liberal Arts Building Room 228. The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, April
14. Prizes awarded: first place $250; second place $175; third place $125.

MONDAY, MARCH 20
Guitar Ensemble. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m. This tribute
to the guitar features duos and trios by J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor and
Domenico Scarlatti, and guitar concertos by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and

Monday Night Laughs: Vicki Shaw. Special Events Center. 8 p.m.
Seasoned comedian Vicki Shaw addresses the triumphs and trials of being a
woman, a mother and gay in America. Presented by the Student Programs Board.

Cesar Chavez Awareness Week. The Boise State University Cultural
Center invites all members of the campus community to participate in a week
of awareness and education about human rights leader Cesar Chavez, March

TUESDAY, MARCH 21
Cesar Chavez Awareness Week: “La Causa.” Special Events Center. 1
p.m. This interactive film/play by Living Voices is set primarily in
California and examines how the boycott movement became an effective tool in
the fight for civil rights. Presented by the Boise State Cultural Center.

Community Cinema: Diverse Perspectives Film Series. Student Union
Jordan Ballroom. 5:30 p.m. The Community Cinema: Diverse Perspectives Film
Series, offered on the third Tuesday of each month, examines diversity
through a range of films. This month’s feature, “Trudell,” combines images
and archival footage to trace the life of Native American activist and poet
John Trudell. Co-sponsored by the Boise State Women’s Center, the Cultural
Center, Student Activities, Idaho Public Television and the Independent

Cesar Chavez Awareness Week: “The Fight in the Fields: Cesar Chavez and
the Farmworkers’ Struggle.” The Cultural Center. 4 p.m. This compelling
film explores the history of the agricultural labor movement through a

BSU West Community Cinema: Diverse Perspectives Film Series. Boise

Kickstart Seminar. Student Union Building. 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m. Kickstart
is a day of workshops and activities designed to bring Idaho’s resources for
entrepreneurs together in one place. The keynote speaker for this year’s
event is Bo Peabody at 7 p.m. March 23 at the Egyptian Theatre, 700 W. Main
Street. Peabody is co-founder and managing general partner of Village
Ventures, and the author of Lucky or Smart: Secrets to an Entrepreneurial

SUNDAY, MARCH 26
Pilates Progression. Student Recreation Center. 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Tuesdays and Thursdays. In this multi-week session, participants will learn
how to stabilize the core and challenge the muscles that provide comfort,
support and movement for the entire body. $42 for REC members; $72 for

MONDAY, MARCH 27
Boot Camp. Student Recreation Center. 6:15-7:15 a.m. The REC invites
the campus community to improve their endurance, strength, speed and mental
stamina in this eight-week fitness program. Fitness tests will be conducted
before and after the program to track progress. $54 for REC members; $84 for

New York Theater and Music Study Tour. Boise State music professor
Del Parkinson leads an educational music and theater study tour of New York
City March 27-April 2. Parkinson has led more than a dozen previous study
tours to New York. $2,900: fee includes round-trip airfare from Boise, six
nights of hotel accommodations in the theater district, tickets to theater
and music performances, admission charges, guided tours, additional
sightseeing and activities, selected meals and credit or noncredit fees.

Unleash Your Inner Chef: Marinade Night. Student Union Hatch

FRIDAY, MARCH 31
BSU GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) Support
Group. Student Union Shipman Room. 3-4 p.m. The aims of this support
group are to provide support for GLBTQ students, to explore coming out
issues and strategies, and to build healthy relationships. Free. Contact

SATURDAY, APRIL 1
Seven Arrows Pow Wow.The Boise State University Intertribal Native
Council will present the 13th annual Seven Arrows Pow Wow April 1-2 in the
Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Admission is $5 through Select-a-Seat. The
featured speaker for the event is Vernon Bellecourt at 2 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
April 1 in the Hatch Ballroom. Bellecourt is the principal spokesman for the
American Indian Movement. Other events include a drum group contest, dance
competitions, a one-man hand drum special and dance specials. Contact Krys
