Boise State Selland College of Applied Technology Students
Earn Medals in State Competition
Eight Selland College of Applied Technology students at Boise State
University earned gold, silver and bronze medals for outstanding career and
technical job skills in the state SkillsUSA competition held April 6-8 in
Boise.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that prepares America’s workers for
careers. It provides quality educational experiences in leadership,
teamwork, citizenship and character development to more than 265,000
students nationwide each year.
The winners were:
Joe Human, Gold Medal, Architectural Drafting
Chris O'Dell, Gold Medal, Collision Repair
Scott Manning, Gold Medal, and Ben DeCamp, Silver Medal, Internetworking
Andy McGrath, Gold Medal, and Travis Newkirk, Silver Medal, Precision
Machining
Andy McGrath, Silver Medal, and Tony Pfost, Bronze Medal, Related Technical
Math
Selland College faculty spend hundreds of hours each year preparing students
for competition through coaching, mentoring and training. Gold medal winners
will advance to the national competition June 18-24 in Kansas, City, Mo.,
where they will compete in occupational and leadership skill areas.
