Boise State Volunteer Service Board Encourages Community to
'Think Green'
The Boise State University Volunteer Services Board will hold
awareness-raising events just in time for Earth Day. Events include a
documentary and discussion, the annual Shack City event, and an
environmental agency fair.
• “Global Warning,” a documentary investigating the issue of global warming,
will be screened at 7 p.m. April 20 in the Student Union Bishop Barnwell
Room. “Global Warning” is a production of the TV newsmagazine “60 Minutes”
and takes an in-depth look at climate change. In addition, Tim Barker of the
National Weather Service will give a presentation about global warming.
Free.
• The Environmental Agency Fair, 11 a.m. April 21 on the Quad, will feature
information on local and national environmental groups. Participants can
learn more about current environmental issues and how to get involved and
make a difference. Free.
• Shack City, an event designed to raise awareness about homelessness in
Idaho and around the world, will begin at 5 p.m. April 21 and will continue
until the morning of April 22. Participants will construct a “city” out of
cardboard and packing tape and will then spend the night in the city. People
who would like to participate are asked to wear warm clothing and to bring
their own blankets, sleeping bags and pillows. Free.
