Boise State Reception an Introduction to Careers in Aging
Boise State University’s Center for the Study of Aging
will host a reception to introduce students to careers in the field of aging
from 3-6 p.m. April 19 in the Student Union Lookout Room. The event, held in
recognition of National Careers in Aging Week, is free and open to all
students and to professionals in the field of aging. Refreshments will be
provided and parking in the Student Union Visitor’s Lot will be validated.
By the year 2030, 20 percent of Americans and 25 percent of Idahoans will be
age 65 or older. As the Baby Boom generation ages, a whole slate of careers
in aging are expected to open up, including: -Corporate manager
-Social worker -Lawyer -Health care provider
-Marketing executive -Trainer/educator
-Counselor -Advocate -Recreational therapist
-Community organizer
Professionals from these and other fields will be available to meet
informally with students and answer their questions on internships, job
preparation and more. They can also answer questions about their specific
organizations and how they relate to aging.
