Boise State Reception an Introduction to Careers in Aging

Boise State University’s Center for the Study of Aging will host a reception to introduce students to careers in the field of aging from 3-6 p.m. April 19 in the Student Union Lookout Room. The event, held in recognition of National Careers in Aging Week, is free and open to all students and to professionals in the field of aging. Refreshments will be provided and parking in the Student Union Visitor’s Lot will be validated.

By the year 2030, 20 percent of Americans and 25 percent of Idahoans will be age 65 or older. As the Baby Boom generation ages, a whole slate of careers in aging are expected to open up, including:
    -Corporate manager
    -Social worker
    -Lawyer
    -Health care provider
    -Marketing executive
    -Trainer/educator
    -Counselor
    -Advocate
    -Recreational therapist
    -Community organizer

Professionals from these and other fields will be available to meet informally with students and answer their questions on internships, job preparation and more. They can also answer questions about their specific organizations and how they relate to aging.

For more information, contact the Center for the Study of Aging at 426-5802.
