Author John Keeble to Give Reading at Boise State University
Author John Keeble will read from his work as part of the Boise State
University MFA Reading Series at 7 p.m. April 27 in the Hemingway Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
Keeble is the author of four novels, including “Yellowfish” and “Broken
Ground.” A fifth novel, “Guide to Insurrection,” is in the works. A
collection of his stories, “Nocturnal America,” is a winner of the Prairie
Schooner Award Series in fiction and will be issued in the fall. Keeble also
is the author of a work of nonfiction, “Out of the Channel: The Exxon Valdez
Oil Spill in Prince William Sound,” and is currently at work on a new novel
set in the West during the Civil War era.
Keeble’s fiction and non-fiction stories have appeared in the Village Voice,
American Short Fiction, Outside magazine and the “Best American Short
Stories” collection, and Boise State’s “The Idaho Review,” among others.
Keeble wrote the prize-winning documentary on the life of Raymond Carver,
“To Write and Keep Kind,” and has held a Guggenheim Fellowship and received
a Washington State Governor’s Award for Nonfiction. He is a professor
emeritus of creative writing at Eastern Washington University and has served
as a distinguished visiting chair in creative writing at the University of
Alabama.
Boise State’s MFA Reading Series brings nationally-known authors and poets
to campus. Past speakers include Rick Bass, Chris Offutt, Rae Armantrout,
Liz Waldner, Joy Williams and Denis Johnson.
