BSU Student Lands Position in Department of Interior as Part of Presidential
Management Fellowship
June Hues, a December 2005 graduate in the master of public administration
program at Boise State University, has been selected as a Presidential
Management Fellow in Washington, D.C. Hues was offered several positions
with the federal government through the program and has chosen to work with
the Department of Interior as a budget analyst.
“The Presidential Management Fellowship has provided me with a unique
opportunity to choose a career path with the federal government that
reflects my career interests and goals,” Hues said. “The direct contact with
the federal agencies that occurred as part of the fellowship process has
opened career opportunities that just aren’t available outside of the
program.”
Hues, who currently works as the Boise Region airshed manager for the
Department of Environmental Quality, said a budgeting class taught by Boise
State political science professor Richard Kinney was her most challenging
course and was instrumental in her decision to accept the new position.
“June’s selection for the Presidential Management Fellowship program is
truly a great honor,” said Kinney. “Through the fellowship, June will add to
her already broad knowledge and excellent professional skills as well as
enhance her future career opportunities. I am excited just thinking about
the adventures that await her.”
The Presidential Management Fellowship is a highly competitive program
designed to attract outstanding graduate students from a variety of academic
disciplines and career paths to federal service jobs.
