Boise State Workshops Focus on Lewis and Clark, Desert
Studies, Culture, Cinema and Health Topics
Boise State University’s summer workshop series will focus on Lewis and
Clark and the West, desert studies, a variety of cultures, cinema and
health.
Several of the workshop topics were designed around “A Circle of Cultures:
The Boise Lewis & Clark Experience,” a series of free events from May 20-29
in Julia Davis Park. The events will allow visitors to experience the Lewis
and Clark journey. The summer workshop series will enhance that experience
by focusing on topics such as art in the age of Lewis and Clark, Western
history through film, political thought of the American West, owls of the
West and more.
Desert studies topics include archaeology, paleontology, desert ecology and
ethnobotany. Cultural workshops topics for the summer include Basque tree
carving in Idaho, introduction to Basque culture, African folktales and
Swahili language and culture. Those geared toward cinema include courts in
the movies, documented reality on film and video, Mormons in the movies and
the history of Quebec cinema. A health and wellness series includes topics
such as introduction to neurofeedback, stress management, grief and loss,
eating disorders and suicide in Idaho.
Registration is open for both summer and fall workshops. Most workshops are
offered for Boise State credit. For more information and a complete schedule
of workshops, visit
