BSU to Award Honorary Doctorate to Head of CH2M Hill at 2006

Ralph R. Peterson, a top executive known for his passion, enthusiasm and
unfailing work ethic, will be honored with an honorary doctorate by Boise
State University at its spring 2006 Commencement ceremony, at 10 a.m. May 13
in the Taco Bell Arena. Doors will open at 9 a.m. No tickets are needed for
family and guests to attend.
Peterson is chairman, president and CEO of CH2M Hill, a global project
delivery company based in Denver, with annual revenue of $3 billion and
18,000 employees worldwide. Peterson joined the company as a project
engineer in 1965 and became CEO in 1991.
As CEO, Peterson has earned praise and recognition for his company’s role in
promoting the environment through its cleanup work and other
environment-related projects. Under his watch, CH2M Hill was named one of
America’s top employers by Fortune magazine, due in part to its competitive
compensation and benefits packages, open and accessible communications
practices, employee-ownership culture, learning and development
opportunities, and work-life balance programs.
In addition to his role at CH2M Hill, Peterson serves on the boards of Excel
Energy, StanCorp Financial Group and the Yale University Engineering School.
Peterson has previously served as industry co-chair of the Technology for a
Sustainable Future White House Initiative and has been a delegate to several
major international forums on sustainable development and the environment.
Peterson graduated from Boise Junior College in 1965. He has a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Oregon
State University, a master of science in environmental engineering from
Stanford University and an honorary doctorate in engineering from the
Colorado School of Mines. He has also studied in the Advanced Management
Program at Harvard University School of Business.
