Boise State Honors Organizations, Individuals During Student
Organization Awards Ceremony
Delta Beta Nu Sorority was recognized with the Organization of the Year
Award during the annual Boise State University Student Organization Awards
Ceremony this week at the Student Union.
DBN has been the leader on campus in the fight against breast cancer,
raising more than $2,000 for St. Luke’s Breast Care Services Center. The
group also has hosted events to honor breast cancer survivors and has
participated in the Race for the Cure benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation. DBN also raises awareness about other issues, including
responsible drinking. The sorority received $300 in recognition of its
service.
Other awards included:
• The David S. Taylor Service to Students Award was given to Helen Lojek,
who has been a two-time winner of the outstanding student organization
adviser award. Lojek is an English professor and the assistant dean of the
College of Arts and Sciences.
• Jenna Clark received the Marj Billings Award for her selfless dedication
to Boise State.
• Andrew Giacomazzi received the Student Organization Adviser of the Year
award. Giacomazzi, a criminal justice administration professor, is the
adviser for the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society. He will
received $300 from Student Activities.
• Student group award winners included the Organization of Student Social
Workers, Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/a de Aztlan, Women’s Softball, Alpha
Kappa Lambda, Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, Baptist Campus
Ministries and the Hand Talk Sign Language Club. Each club will receive
$100.
The evening also included staff awards for members of the Student Programs
Board, the Volunteer Services Board, University Pulse and the Arbiter. The
Meistersingers and members of the Hui-O-Aloha club entertained attendees.
