Boise State University Hosts Annual Idaho Watercolor Society
Exhibit
Boise State University will host the Idaho Watercolor Society’s 27th annual
exhibit June 2-29 at the Student Union Gallery. The exhibit is open from 7
a.m.-11 p.m. daily and admission is free. An opening reception will be at
6:30 p.m. June 2.
Judy Morris will be the exhibition judge. She is a signature member of the
American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the
Transparent Watercolor Society of America and the Northwest Watercolor
Society. She taught at South Medford High School in Medford, Ore., for 30
years before retiring in 1996. She has since been a popular juror and
instructor throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. Morris
will present a slide show about her career during the opening reception.
The Idaho Watercolor Society was founded in 1979 to support and promote
water media and to educate the public on its significance. The organization
has hundreds of members statewide. Six regional centers are located in
Boise, Moscow, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls and Coeur d’Alene. Members
of the society range from beginning painters to professional watercolorists.
Membership is open to all Idaho residents.
Annually, IWS brings a nationally recognized watercolorist to Idaho to teach
workshops and jury for awards. The annual juried membership exhibition also
includes a traveling show selected by the juror that travels to each region
of the state.
