‘April Showers’ Features Quirky, Personal Books Created by
Boise State University Students
The Boise State University English Department’s Introduction to Book Arts
class is finding inspiration in spring’s soggy weather during its “April
Showers” online book exhibit, at
http://english.boisestate.edu/ttrusky/dissolving.html.
The books were created on “Dissolvo” water-soluble paper (hence the “April
Showers” name), which is popular among spy enthusiasts. The class was
encouraged to take advantage of the paper’s dissolving capabilities and
create books that complement its unique qualities.
This year’s books include ruminations on the transient nature of everything
from relationships to Tootsie Roll Pops. (Shawn R. Brown’s book, “Proof,”
reveals the answer to the perennial question, “How many licks does it take
to get to the bottom of a Tootsie Roll Pop?”)
Boise State professor Tom Trusky teaches the Introduction to Book Arts
class.
