Boise State University Honors College Awards
Five Full-ride Scholarships
The Boise State University Honors College awarded prestigious Brown
scholarships to five high school seniors from Idaho and Oregon. The
scholarships, named for the late Dean and Thelma Brown, include four years
of tuition, room and board at Boise State. The students were chosen based on
their high school GPAs, SAT and ACT test scores, and personal essays.
Scholarship winners are:
Kija Hanson of Meridian, a student at Mountain View High School who
plans to study theatre arts
Claire Ivins of Boise, a student at Cole Valley Christian in Meridian
who plans to study linguistics
Brindee Probst of Salmon, a student at Salmon High School who plans
to study anthropology
Valerie Tran of Boise, a student at Centennial High School who plans
to study biochemistry
Danielle Thomas of Vale, Ore., a student at Vale High School who
plans to study English
Dean and Thelma Brown were longtime Boise residents. Dean was a baker at the
very first Albertson’s store, and continued to work for Albertson’s until he
retired. Their estate left $7 million to Boise State, mostly in Albertson’s
stock.
