Boise State University Honors College Awards
Five Full-ride Scholarships

The Boise State University Honors College awarded prestigious Brown scholarships to five high school seniors from Idaho and Oregon. The scholarships, named for the late Dean and Thelma Brown, include four years of tuition, room and board at Boise State. The students were chosen based on their high school GPAs, SAT and ACT test scores, and personal essays.

Scholarship winners are:
Kija Hanson of Meridian, a student at Mountain View High School who plans to study theatre arts
Claire Ivins of Boise, a student at Cole Valley Christian in Meridian who plans to study linguistics
Brindee Probst of Salmon, a student at Salmon High School who plans to study anthropology
Valerie Tran of Boise, a student at Centennial High School who plans to study biochemistry
Danielle Thomas of Vale, Ore., a student at Vale High School who plans to study English

Dean and Thelma Brown were longtime Boise residents. Dean was a baker at the very first Albertson’s store, and continued to work for Albertson’s until he retired. Their estate left $7 million to Boise State, mostly in Albertson’s stock.
