Boise State Health Science Students Earn
Scholarships
 

The following Boise State University students earned scholarships from the College of Health Sciences for the 2006-07 academic year. The College of Health Sciences is dedicated to providing programs of educational excellence for present and future health professionals. 

Department of Community and Environmental Health

Natalie T. Butz of Boise, a sophomore majoring in pre-occupational therapy, was awarded a pre-professional studies program scholarship. Butz, the daughter of Therrie Butz of Boise, is a 2004 graduate of Bishop Kelly High School and works at US Bank. 

Chad Dwyer of Boise, a junior majoring in health sciences studies, was awarded a department scholarship. Dwyer is married to Carlie Dwyer. A 1979 graduate of Breck School in Minneapolis, Minn., he works at Albertsons� Savon Pharmacy.  

Forrest Gearhart of Kuna, a senior majoring in pre-veterinary studies, was awarded a professional studies program scholarship. 

Angela A. G�mez of Boise, a junior majoring in pre-dental studies and Spanish, was awarded a pre-professional studies program scholarship. Gomez, the daughter of Luis E. G�mez and Dora E. Romero of Boise, is a 2003 graduate of Centennial High School. She has been on the dean�s list with high honors and also earned a department scholarship in spring 2005. 

Vienna Katana of Trout Creek, Mont., a junior majoring in premed biology and philosophy, was awarded a professional studies program scholarship. Katana, the daughter of Rick Katana of Sandpoint and Raylene Katana of Thompson Falls, Mont., is a 2003 graduate of Noxon High School in Noxon, Mont. She currently works at the Idaho Foodbank. 

Kristina Kelley of Boise, a sophomore majoring in health science studies, was awarded a department scholarship. Kelley, the daughter of Grace Kelley of Boise, is a 2004 graduate of Capital High School. In 2004, she received the Mayor�s Award and the Joy Trent and Sasha Ward Award.

Stefanie Magee of Kuna, a senior majoring in health science studies with a minor in biology, was awarded a department scholarship. Magee, the daughter of Allan and Debra Magee of Kuna, is a 2002 graduate of Kuna High School and works at St. Luke�s Meridian Medical Center and Texas Roadhouse. She has been on the dean�s list with highest honors three times.

Ron Schmaltz of Boise, a junior majoring in health information management, was awarded a department scholarship. Schmaltz, the son of Sheila Ames and Jim Bigelow of Corvallis, Ore., is a 1991 graduate of West Albany High School in Albany, Ore. He currently works in information systems at Micron Technology Inc.

Chancey Standlee of Meridian, a junior majoring in biology, was awarded a professional studies program scholarship. Standlee, the son of Scott Flinn and Tena Wiese, is a 2002 graduate of the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls. He has been on the dean�s list at both CSI and Boise State, and previously earned a CSI Presidential Scholarship. Standlee works as a resident aid at Alterra Assisted Living.

Department of Nursing

Melissa Adams of Miami, Fla., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Sharon Crim Nursing Scholarship. Adams, the daughter of Ron and Marsha Russo of Tampa, Fla., is a 1994 graduate of Western High School in Davie, Fla. She currently works at Boise OB/GYN and Associates.

Hollie Andrew of Salem, Ore., a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded the Edmund & Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and the Friends of Nursing Scholarship. Andrew, the daughter of Cris and Laurie Andrew, is a 2005 graduate of Sprague High School in Salem.

Debbie Artimez of San Diego, Calif., a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded the Laura G. Larson Scholarship and the Edmund & Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Artimez, the daughter of Donald and Patricia Artimez, is a 1995 graduate of University City High School in San Diego. She works as a fish biologist at the NOAA Fisheries.

Jessica Bartley of Meridian, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. Bartley, the daughter of Debbie Burgin of Shelby, Mont., and Jim Peterson of Cascade, is a 2000 graduate of Meridian High School.

Jason Bird of Blackfoot, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Bird, the son of Norman and Lee Ann Bird of Blackfoot, is a 1998 graduate of Blackfoot High School.

Jordie Booth of Caldwell, a nursing major, was awarded the Jody DeMeyer Memorial Scholarship and the Lojek Family Nursing Scholarship. Booth, the daughter of David and Joyce DeGarlais of Pocatello, is a judo instructor for the City of Nampa. She previously received two American Legion scholarships and the 2005 Lojek Family Nursing Scholarship.

Ashley Bordewyk of Twin Falls, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a health science studies scholarship. Bordewyk, the daughter of Donn and Caren Bordewyk of Twin Falls, is a 2004 graduate of Twin Falls High School. She previously earned a president�s scholarship at NNU. She works at Subway in Boise.

Lindsey Braun of Sandpoint, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Braun, the daughter of Annette and Ed Braun of Sandpoint, is a 2002 graduate of Sandpoint High School.

Amanda Brizendine of Melba, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Brizendine, the daughter of Kelly and Vicky Kramer of Melba, is a 1994 graduate of Melba High School.

Kristin Brown of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation  Nursing Scholarship. Brown, the daughter of Floyd and Barbara Brown, is a 2000 graduate of Capital High School. She currently works as a medical assistant for Boise Orthopedic Clinic.

Glenn N. Carpenter of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Carpenter, who graduated from Palmdale High School in Palmdale, Calif., also earned Laura Moore Cunningham scholarships in 2004 and 2005. He is a registered nurse at Boise Samaritan Village.

Julie Carr of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship and a Gordon Ross Medical Foundation Scholarship. Carr is the daughter of Jim Stephens of Wyoming and Carol White of Idaho,

Jennifer Casey of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded at Sara Evelyn Morrow Nursing Scholarship. Casey, who works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center, is a 1982 graduate of Chaminade Prep High School in Chatsworth, Calif.

Anna Churchill of Wasilla, Alaska, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Churchill, the daughter of Allen and Sheri Churchill of Wasilla, is a 2005 graduate of Colony High School in Palmer.

Kristine Clegg of Nampa, a nursing major, was awarded a John F. Nagle Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Clegg, the daughter of Jim and Mary Clegg of Nampa, is a 1992 graduate of Westwood High School in Mesa, Ariz.

Jessica Cloud of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded the Dorothy Bostwick Nursing Scholarship and an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Cloud, the daughter of Lyndon Reynolds and Angela Hopkins of Boise, is a 1999 graduate of Vallivue High School in Caldwell. In 2005, she received a department scholarship. Cloud currently works at TGI Fridays.

Kimberly Crosby of Running Springs, Calif., a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. Crosby, the daughter of Mike Crosby of Emmett and Terri Crosby of Clovis, N.M., is a 2005 graduate of Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, Calif.

Joel Dewey of Gooding, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Dewey, the son of John and Diana Dewey of Gooding, is a 2000 graduate of Gooding High School. He currently works for Treasure Valley YMCA.

Christie Dodson of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagle Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Dodson, the daughter of Shirley Dodson of Santa Cruz, Calif., is a 2003 graduate of Meridian High School. She currently works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center.

Brittany Dudley of Nampa, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Dorothea Kunert Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Gordon Ross Medical Foundation Scholarship and Diana Burleigh Sparks Nursing Scholarship. Dudley, the daughter of Merry and Devin Loertscher, is a 1992 graduate of Nampa High School. She currently works at the Life Care Center of Treasure Valley.

Jerry Elliott of Boise, a nursing major, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and a Mary M.  Hopkins Nursing Scholarship. Elliott, the son of Judy Elliott of Henrietta, Texas, is a 1989 graduate of Henrietta High School. He currently works as a paramedic.

Ginger Erland of Eagle, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. Erland, the daughter of Max and Lois Christensen, is a 1989 graduate of Grace High School in Grace, Idaho.

Leslie Espinoza of Fairfield, Calif., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Espinoza, the daughter of Chris and Linda Pedersen, is a 2001 graduate of Fairfield High School.

Sarah Fish of Kuna, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and a department scholarship. Fish, the daughter of Laurie Evans of Kuna, is a 2005 graduate of Kuna High School and currently works at Nashua.

Timothy Foulk of Meridian, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Foulk is a 2004 home school graduate who works as an orientation leader at Boise State.

Gabrielle Gray of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and the Anna Marie Barnes Payne Scholarship. Gray, the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Gray of Boise, is a Bishop Kelly High School graduate. She works as a nurse apprentice.

Alison Greene of Nampa, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Kathleen Good Memorial Scholarship. Greene, the daughter of Lyla McCoy of Caldwell, is a 1992 graduate of Nampa High School.

Miren Griggs of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Griggs, the daughter of Carmen and Charlie Griggs, is a 1999 graduate of Centennial High School. She was on the dean�s list in 2005 and currently works for the Women�s and Children�s Alliance and Dr. Robert DiGrazia.

Rebecca Guy of Meridian, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Guy, the daughter of Marty and Elaine Dering of Mt. Carmel, Utah, is a 1989 graduate of Santana High School in Santee, Calif. She also received the Eric Dostie Memorial Scholarship in 2004 and 2005, and a parent continuing education scholarship in 2005.

Ann Haelan of Niagara Falls, N.Y., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and the Edna Reutzel Nursing Scholarship. Haelan, the daughter of Matthew J. and Ann W. Drylewski, is a 1974 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.

Jerrie Hammons of Meridian, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Hammons, the daughter of Marliss McMillan of Boise, is a 1974 graduate of Meridian High School. She currently works at Barnes and Noble.

Luna Hauter of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Hauter, the daughter of Bruce Hauter and Marilyn Chilson of Bisbee, Ariz., is a 1999 graduate of Olympia High School in Olympia, Wash. She currently works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center.

Brett Hearl of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Hearl, the son of Ned and Jane Hearl of Abingdon, Va., works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center.

Laura Hein of Lewiston, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Hein is a 2002 graduate of Lewiston High School. She currently works at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.

Nancy Hernandez of Eagle Lake, Texas, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Hernandez, the daughter of Guadalupe and Maria Hernandez, is a 1995 graduate of Rice High School in Altair, Texas. She is currently a licensed practical nurse working at Elmore Medical Center in Mountain Home.

Mandy Herreid of Goldendale, Wash., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and Luella Glasgow Hendryx Nursing Scholarship. Herreid, the daughter of Steve and Mary Nygaard of Goldendale, is a 1994 graduate of Goldendale High School.

Stefani Hesseltine of Portage, Ind., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Hesseltine, the daughter of John and Cathy Hesseltine, is a 2003 graduate of Portage High School.

Rachel Hessing of Rexburg, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Hessing, the daughter of Marge and Danny Harris of Newdale, is a 1997 graduate of Sugar Salem High School in Sugar City. She works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center.

Kelly Hogg of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Albert and Hazel DeMeyer Nursing Scholarship and the Lucile LeRoy Nursing Scholarship. Hogg, the daughter of Les and Tammy Hogg, is a 2003 graduate of Capital High School.

Ainslee Howells of Preston, a nursing major, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Howells, the daughter of Layne and Irene Peterson of Preston, is a 2002 graduate of Preston High School.

Grace Ingram of Nampa, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Ingram, the daughter of John and Kaye Ingram of Ithaca, N.Y., is a 2004 graduate of Skyview High School. She currently works at Albertsons.

Aaron J. Johnson of Lake Oswego, Ore., a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. Johnson, the son of Gregg and Ruth Johnson, is a 1995 graduate of Lake Oswego High School. He currently works as a paramedic at Treasure Valley Paramedics in Ontario. Ore.

Amy Johnson of Albany, Ore., a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship and an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Johnson, the daughter of DeAnn and Steve Johnson, is a 2005 graduate of West Albany High School. She works at Old Navy and Applebee�s.

Kendra Johnson of Spokane, Wash., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Johnson, the daughter of Marsha Johnson of Rathdrum, is a 1996 graduate of University High School in Spokane. She currently works at Moxie Java.

David Kallberg of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Kallberg, the son of Ken and Judy Kallberg, is a 2001 graduate of Borah High School. He is currently working as a nurse apprentice at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center.

Shannon Kessel of Kuna, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded the Margaret Graham Iseli Nursing Scholarship, the Clair F. and Zita A. Vahey Nursing Scholarship and a Helen Wright Nursing Scholarship. Kessel is the daughter of Darl L. Thornton and Lois Behunin of Portland, Ore. 

Kathleen Kiel of Stayton, Ore., a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Kiel, the daughter of Hollis and Zona Kiel of Middleton, is a 1999 graduate of Stayton High School. She currently works for Sodexho. 

Jennifer Kuehn of Boise, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Memorial Nursing Scholarship and a Doris A. Kelly Nursing Scholarship. Kuehn, the daughter of Rich and Tiffany Kuehn, is a 2005 graduate of Centennial High School.  

Monica Kush of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Kush, the daughter of Janice and John Kush of Carson City, Nev., is a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph�s Convent in Port of Spain, Trinidad. She currently works for the Salvation Army. 

Brooke Lindstrom of Rexburg, a nursing major, was awarded an Anna Budge Graham Nursing Scholarship. Lindstrom, the daughter of Raymond and Sunde Lindstrom, is a 2000 graduate of Madison High School. She has been on the dean�s list with high honors and was a finalist in speech communication debate. She works for Stein Distributing in the marketing division. 

Michael Maira of Columbus, Ohio, a nursing major, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. 

Colette Manning of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Manning, the daughter of Joyce Kendall, is a graduate of Borah High School.

Mardi McDonough of Boise, a nursing major, was awarded a Friends of Nursing scholarship. McDonough, the daughter of Annette Mooney of Boise, is a 1988 graduate of Capital High School. She works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Amie Miller of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Miller, the daughter of Sandra and David Miller, is a 1994 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School in Colorado. She currently works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Robin Miller of Kuna, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. 

Max Mitchell of New Palestine, Ind., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Mitchell, son of Patricia Smith of Rio Vista, Calif., is a 1968 graduate of New Palestine High School. A member of Phi Kappa Phi, he works at the Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Center. 

Jenny Montague of Sacramento, Calif., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation Health Nursing Scholarship and a Phyllis DeBois Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Montague, the daughter of Jerry and Cathy Montague of Stockton, Calif., is a 2001 graduate of Fayetteville High School in Arkansas. She currently works at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. 

Shawnee Montierth of Meridian, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Helen Wright Nursing Scholarship and a Stirn Memorial Scholarship. Montierth, the daughter of Jerry and Diana Checketts of Ogden, Utah, is a registered nurse at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Patricia Moody of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and a Helen Wright Nursing Scholarship. Moody, the daughter of Lew and Kay Caruso, is a 1983 graduate of American Fork High School. She works at the Idaho State School and Hospital. 

Leslie Morton of Boise, a nursing major, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Morton, the daughter of Jacque and Barry Fries, is a 1999 graduate of Boise High School. 

Betty Movius of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a department scholarship. Movius is a 1989 graduate of Borah High School. 

Jessica Newell of Tucson, Ariz., a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Newell, the daughter of Mike Newell of Fallbrook, Calif., and Trish Newell of Stevenson, Wash., is a 2005 graduate of Sabino High School in Tucson.  

Katie Oakes of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship.  Oakes, the daughter of Steven and Susan Oakes, is a 2003 graduate of Capital High School. She works at Joe�s Crab Shack. 

Barbara Olson of Grand Rapids, Minn., a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Olson, the daughter of Bob and Cheryl Hollum of Grand Rapids and Dean Bullock of Loveland, Colo., is a 1993 graduate of Grand Rapids Senior High School. She works as a licensed practical nurse at Capitol Care Center.  

Bryan Owens of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Owens is the son of Patricia Abbott and the former William Owens. This is his second year to receive this scholarship. 

Jessica Paik of Portland, Ore., a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Scholarship. Paik, the daughter of Eun and Chung Paik, is a 2000 graduate of Westview High School in Portland. She is a nurse apprentice at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Rachel Peck of Boise, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship and a Mae Swinehart Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Peck, the daughter of Bill and Janet Peck, is a 2005 graduate of Capital High School. She currently works at the Central District Health Department. 

Jennifer Pennington of Nampa, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Gordon Ross Medical Foundation Scholarship and a Martha S. Reese Nursing Scholarship. Pennington, the daughter of Julie Davis, is a 1994 graduate of Caldwell High School. She was previously awarded the Mae Swinehart Memorial Scholarship in 2004 and 2005. 

Mina Petrosyan of Boise, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Petrosyan, daughter of Virginia Khachikyan of Boise, is a 1991 graduate of Burbank High School in California. She works at Saint Alphonsus Psychiatric Center. 

Stacy Pickruhn of Wausau, Wis., a nursing major, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Pickruhn, the daughter of Lorraine Pickruhn of Wausau, is a 1998 graduate of Wausau West High School. 

Rachel Pincock of Idaho Falls, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Pincock, the daughter of Bruce and Connie Waters of Idaho Falls, is a 2002 graduate of Bonneville High School. She works at Sherwin-Williams Paint. 

Naomi Pluger of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Memorial Nursing Scholarship. Pluger, the daughter of Chuck and Joan Larsen of Green Bay, Wis., is a 1996 graduate of Green Bay High School. She previously received a medical assisting scholarship in 2000. Pluger is employed at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. 

Tiffany Purdy of Payette, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Mary VanVacter Nursing Scholarship and an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Purdy, the daughter of Christina Purdy of Payette, is a 1999 graduate of Payette High School. She currently works for Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. 

Alisa Ray of Temecula, Calif., a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Ray, the daughter of Peggy and Richard Ray of Temecula, is a 2005 graduate of Chaparral High School.

Bronwyn Roberts of Blackfoot, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Roberts, the son of Paul and Gayle Roberts, is a graduate of Blackfoot High School. He currently works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Mark Sanders of Boise, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Sanders, the son of George and Sallye Sanders of Fruitland, is a 1998 graduate of Central High School in La Crosse, Wis. 

Brienne Sandow of Boise, a nursing major, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Sandow, the daughter of Robert and Claudia Borgna of Boise, is a 1997 graduate of Bishop Kelly High School. She works at St. Luke�s Regional Medical Center. 

Sage Sewell of Boise, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Fermin and Regina Aldecoa Scholarship, which she also received last year. Sewell, the daughter of Anne and Gary Sewell, is a 1991 graduate of Boise High School. She works as a patient safety attendant at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. 

Sharon Snarey of Boise, a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Fermin and Regina Aldecoa Scholarship, which she also received last year. Snarey, the daughter of David and Hideko Weissgerber of Okinawa, is a 1984 graduate of Kadena High School in Okinawa.  

Kari Staten of Baker City, Ore., a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Staten, the daughter of Chuck and Nancy Staten, is a 2003 graduate of Baker High School. She works at St. Luke�s Family Health. 

Andrea Stroup of Missoula, Mont., a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Stroup, the daughter of Dei Stroup of Missoula and David Stroup of Aurora, Ore., is a 1996 graduate of Hellgate High School in Missoula. She works at Mercy Medical Center. 

Katherine Sullivan of Boise, a nursing major, received a department scholarship. Sullivan, the daughter of John and Kathy Sullivan, is a 1995 graduate of Clackamas High School in Milwaukie, Ore. She works at Aviation Finance Group. 

Becky Syltie of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded an Ada County Medical Society Scholarship. Syltie, the daughter of Fred and Sharon Tucker of Parma, is a 1989 graduate of Boise High School.

Jayna Thompson of Kailua, Hawaii, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Thompson, the daughter of Rhonda Thompson of Honolulu and Don Thompson of Boise, is a 1988 graduate of Kalaheo High School in Kailua. She has been on the dean�s list twice and works as a Boise State math tutor. This is the third time she has received this scholarship. 

JoRae Thorne of Nampa, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship. Thorne, the daughter of Jon and Kathy Fiero of Bend, Ore., is a 1991 graduate of Mt. View High School in Bend, Ore.  

Jennifer Vazquez of Caldwell, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Vazquez, the daughter of Penney and John Cook of Caldwell, is a 2002 graduate of Caldwell High School. She currently works at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. 

Lisa Watson of Boise, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Watson, the daughter of Deanne McCoy and Russell Purcell, is a 1997 graduate of Meridian High School.  

Nicole Wattier of Caldwell, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Wattier, the daughter of Robert A. and Shirley Lindsley of Yermo, Calif., is a 1990 graduate of Silver Valley High School in Yermo.  

Carie Wegert of Madison, Wis., a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Wegert is a 1986 graduate of Monona Grove High School in Monona Grove.  

Tabitha Whetham of Kuna, a sophomore majoring in nursing, was awarded a Laura Moore Cunningham Nursing Scholarship and an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Whetham, the daughter of Marilyn and Gary Rasmusssen, is a 1997 graduate of Idaho Falls High School. She is the previous recipient of a Nursing Department Scholarship. 

Shawn M. Wynn of Big Sandy, Mont., a senior majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Wynn, the son of Mike and Kathy Belcourt of Big Sandy and Mark Wynn of Havre, Mont., is a 1994 graduate of Big Sandy High School.  

Liwen Yang of Tianjin, China, a freshman majoring in nursing, was awarded a John F. Nagel Foundation Nursing Scholarship. Yang, the daughter of Qingyun Yang of Tianjin, is a 1989 graduate of Tiangin Xianshui Gu.  

Leslie Ziebarth of Blackfoot, a junior majoring in nursing, was awarded an Edmund and Alice Palmatier Nursing Scholarship. Ziebarth, the daughter of Craig and Lynette George, is a 2003 graduate of Blackfoot High School. She currently works at Boise State and at Lonestar Steakhouse. 

Radiologic Sciences

Jennifer Adams of Meridian, a senior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a department scholarship. Adams, the daughter of Cathie Wick of Meridian and Duane Adams of Boise, is a 1999 graduate of Meridian High School. She currently works at MRI Center of Idaho. 

Kevin Anderson of Nampa, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a department scholarship. Anderson, the son of Gordon and Diane Anderson of Lakeview, Ark., is a 1979 graduate of Belmond High School in Belmond, Iowa.  

Catherine M. Clemens �Payton of Nampa, a sophomore majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a Dr. James Mack Memorial/St. Alphonsus Radiology Group Scholarship. Clemens-Payton, the daughter of Vicki C. Baca, is a 1993 graduate of Nampa High School.  

Kate Hanly of Santa Cruz, Calif., a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a Dr. James Mack Memorial/St. Alphonsus Radiology Group Scholarship. Hanly, the daughter of Christina Hoffman, is a 1991 graduate of Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Mo. She is also the previous recipient of the Jeppsen Memorial Scholarship. 

Erin Messenger of Idaho Falls, a senior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a department scholarship. Messenger, the daughter of Janina Messenger of Chester and Ross Messenger of Idaho Falls, is a 2002 graduate of Eagle High School. She was on the dean�s list for 2002-03 and received a Promise Scholarship in 2002 and 2003. 

Brittney Mix of Soda Springs, a senior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded an Anna Mae O�Reilly Memorial Scholarship. Mix, the daughter of Vann and Connie Christiansen, is a 1998 graduate of Soda Springs High School. She currently works at St. Luke�s Meridian Medical Center. 

Hannah Nogle of Lewiston, a radiologic sciences major, was awarded a Dr. James Mack Memorial/St. Alphonsus Radiology Group Scholarship. Nogle, the daughter of Ted and Mary Teats, is a 1993 graduate of Lewiston High School.  

Janina Overlie of Boise, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded the Robert and Kathy Kustra Health Endowed Sciences Scholarship and a department scholarship. Overlie, the daughter of Alan and Cindy Shaber of Emmett, is a 2001 graduate of Borah High School.  

Kandis Pedersen-Romero of Hailey, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a department scholarship. Pedersen-Romero, the daughter of Kala and Larry Pedersen, is a 1999 graduate of Wood River High School. She currently works at St. Luke�s Wood River Medical Center. 

Janell Porter of Idaho Falls, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded the President Charles and Sally Ruch Inaugural Health Science Scholarship. Porter, the daughter of Darren and Jacque Josephson, is a 2003 graduate of Skyline High School. 

Holly Rasmussen of Nyssa, Ore., a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded an Anna Mae O�Reilly Memorial Scholarship. Rasmussen, the daughter of Neil and Claudia Rasmussen, is a 1993 graduate of Nyssa High School. She works at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and has been on the dean�s list. 

Barbara Rienstra of Emmett, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a Dr.Gary Craychee Endowed Scholarship. Rienstra, a 1983 graduate of Twin Falls High School, works as a radiographer at Walter Knox Memorial Hospital in Emmett.

Jacquelyn K. Tadlock of Boise, a senior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a Radiologic Sciences Alumni Scholarship and a department scholarship. Tadlock, the daughter of Robert and Kay McFarland, is a 1988 graduate of Boise High School. She is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. 

Kellen Thuo of Nampa, a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a department scholarship. Thuo is a 2002 graduate of the Mary Leakey Girls School in Nairobi, Kenya. 

Theresa M. Troia of Forestville, Calif., a junior majoring in radiologic sciences, was awarded a Radiologic Sciences Alumni Scholarship. Troia, the daughter of Eva and Mario Troia, is a 1984 graduate of El Molino High School. She is on the dean�s list. 

Respiratory Care

Tate John Hansen of Blackfoot, a respiratory therapy major, was awarded a department scholarship. Hansen, the son of Kent and Kerry Hansen, is a 1998 graduate of Snake River High School. He works as a processing technician at St. Luke�s Pathology Lab. 

Russell King of Buhl, a junior majoring in respiratory therapy, was awarded a dean�s scholarship and a department scholarship. King, the son of Rodney and Diane King, is a 1994 graduate of Buhl High School. He works at Staples Inc.
