Free Cultural Competence Training for
Registered Nurses
Boise State University’s Department of Nursing is hosting
a free fall continuing education course for registered nurses in Idaho. The
Greater Awareness for Idaho Nurses (GAIN) grant program is currently
recruiting registered nurses to participate in the “Caring for the Emerging
Diverse Community: Cultural Competence in Nursing Practice” course.
There will only be one other opportunity, in spring 2007, to take the course
for free. Time is running out and enrollment is limited; deadline for
registration is Aug. 23.
The course explores the complexities of providing culturally competent care
to clients and is intended to provide nurses with a solid foundation in
cultural competency by presenting a broad base of knowledge and skills.
Twenty ANCC-approved contact hours will be awarded at the completion of the
course.
The course will be offered at Boise State University as well as six other
regional locations throughout the state. Statewide registration is
centralized and will be handled through Boise State. Visit the continuing
