Boise State Students Earn Awards at National Business Professionals of America Conference

Seven Boise State University students earned national awards, including one first-place award, during the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month.

Four hundred Idaho high school and postsecondary student BPA members attended the 40th annual national leadership conference. Idaho BPA chapter members joined more than 6,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in national-level business skill competitions.

Boise State’s student winners were as follows:
— Jennifer Lutke, LaGrande, Ore., 11th in Fundamental Word Processing
— Cassandra Myers, Boise, 6th in Fundamental Word Processing, 11th in Integrated Office Applications, 16th in Database Applications
— Amanda Robbins, Boise, 10th in Legal Office Procedures
— Lindsey Solterbeck, Boise, 1st in Integrated Office Applications, 2nd in Fundamental Word Processing, 5th in Administrative Support Concepts, 9th in Database Applications
— Sara Strawn, Pocatello, 4th in Legal Office Procedures
— Kelli and Megan Tafoya, Nampa, 9th in Economic Research Project-Team

Darien Hartman, business programs instructor in the College of Applied Technology, is the Boise State BPA student chapter adviser.

BPA is a national organization for high school, college and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned in school.
