Variety of Academic and Professional/Technical Classes and Programs Enrolling Now in Canyon County

Enrollment for the fall semester is under way at Boise State University. Degree-seeking students must apply by July 12 for undergraduate academic courses if they plan to take more than seven credits or apply for federal financial aid.

Academic courses are offered in Canyon County at the Boise State University-West campus in Nampa on Can-Ada Road just north of the Idaho Center. A wide variety of academic courses are available including American Sign Language, Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Business, Spanish, French and German, Yoga, and Nutrition, as well as core classes in many disciplines. Students can complete an associate of arts or associate of science degree entirely at the West campus.

The academic building on the West campus opened last summer and houses numerous classrooms, teaching and science labs, a branch library, tutoring, faculty offices, a bookstore and more.

Additionally, it features a “one-stop” student services office where students can receive assistance with admission, financial aid and course registration, as well as personalized academic advising and career counseling. The student services office is open from 8 a.m.-to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. Appointments after 6 p.m. are also available.

Prospective students and parents of prospective students are encouraged to call and make an appointment with an enrollment counselor to receive information about attending Boise State, whether they intend to take classes at the West campus or the main campus in Boise. A Spanish speaking enrollment counselor is also available.

Applied technology programs continue to be offered at Boise State’s Canyon County Center on Nampa-Caldwell Boulevard. Those programs include refrigeration, heating and air conditioning, office occupations, computer network support and practical nursing, as well as many others. Several new non-credit offerings have also been added.

Students enrolled in academic programs offered in Canyon County nearly doubled between 1999 and 2004. More than 1,800 students were enrolled this past spring semester at the West campus. In addition, the Canyon County Center served more than 3,500 students this past year in for-credit and non-credit programs.

For information about any of the services or programs available at West Campus or the Canyon County Center, contact West Campus Student Services at 562-3100.
