Historic ArchWalks Offered Through Summer in Boise

Two members of the Boise State University community join two local historians for this year’s ArchWalks (architectural walks), presented once a month through the summer.

Offered by The Idaho Historic Preservation Council, the ArchWalk program is designed to focus on the buildings with which we interact every day. Four distinct walks shed light on the architecture, history and notoriety of downtown Boise buildings and neighborhoods.

Tickets are $5. Season tickets, available to members only, are $20. Each walk will begin at a place of the guide’s choosing. Space is limited; call 424-5111 for reservations. The schedule is as follows:

June 29, 7 p.m. — Todd Shallat, Boise State history professor and director of the Center for Idaho History and Politics, will lead a walk through Boise’s Hyde Park neighborhood.
July 27, 7 p.m. — Ann Felton, Boise State graduate history student and Boise City Historian, looks at the Depot Bench/Rose Hill neighborhood.
Aug. 31, 7 p.m. — Preservation Idaho president Dan Everhart examines Boise’s prairie style influence.
Sept. 28, 6:30 p.m. — Local historian and archaeologist Pam Demo explores the River Street neighborhood’s diverse ethnic history.
