Boise State Offers New Computer Classes in Nampa, Boise

The Center for Workforce Training, a division of the Larry Selland College of Applied Technology at Boise State University, will offer three new computer classes in July at locations in Boise and Nampa.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to attend classes in a relaxed and comfortable setting,” said associate dean Stan Brings. “Our goal is to provide the community with excellent training that is enjoyable and user-friendly.”

Smaller class sizes allow more one-on-one instruction. Students have the opportunity to learn in a relaxed setting that includes extensive time for questions and hands-on practice. No application is required for the non-credit classes and they are open to all.

Upcoming courses include:
— Computer FUNdamentals for Seniors: Topics include basic computer use, setting up a computer, using the mouse, windows, creating a document, printing and more. Classes will be held from 2-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 6-11 in Nampa. The cost is $99 and includes materials.

— Internet Essentials: Topics include how the Internet works, how to search for information, how to send and receive e-mail, and much more. Classes will be held from 2-5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 5-17 in Boise. The cost is $75 and includes materials.

— QuickBooks 2005: The QuickBooks system helps small businesses manage finances more efficiently by simplifying the financial record-keeping of a company. Topics include paying bills, invoicing customers, tracking sales tax, filling out purchase orders and more. Classes will be held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 6-Aug. 24. The cost is $299 plus text.
