Recent Boise State Graduate Awarded Fulbright Fellowship, Will Travel to Germany

A former standout Boise State University student, Kara Fink, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship to study in Germany. She will leave Boise on Aug. 14.

The purpose of the Fulbright program is to foster leadership, learning and empathy between cultures, and the program is open to students, scholars and professionals. Fink is the second former Boise State student to receive a Fulbright award for fall 2006. Former ASBSU President Ali Ishaq will spend a year in Amman, Jordan.

Fink graduated in December 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in international business. She is currently employed with Morningside LLC, a bath and body products company, in Boise.

While a student at Boise State, Fink served as director for the Volunteer Services Board and was either an officer or member of the Honors College/Honors Student Association, Boise State Ambassadors, Student Alumni Association, Boise State Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the Student Union Board of Governors.

She also participated in the study abroad program twice, visiting both Germany and Thailand. She has volunteered with Zoo Boise, the Botanical Garden, A Treehouse Horticulture Therapy Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boise Rescue Mission, Boise Food Warehouse and more. Fink was also the recipient of numerous scholarships, including the Marj Billings Award in 2004 for service to Boise State and the Boise community.

Those interested in the Fulbright student program should contact Sabine Klahr, director for International Programs at Boise State and the Fulbright program adviser, at 426-3652. The deadline for Boise State students to apply for the 2007-08 academic year is Sept. 22.
