Groundbreaking Signals Community Project at Julia Davis
Park
The City of Boise and Boise State University have announced a cooperative
effort to renovate and expand the tennis courts at Julia Davis Park with the
lead gifts coming from the Micron Technology Foundation and long-time
community tennis players and tennis fans Emmet and Janet Herndon. The Idaho
Tennis Association also has announced its financial support and involvement
of the complex remodel and will help fund lighting and seating.
Tennis-playing members in the community will be able to play on six
beautiful courts surrounded by natural landscaped seating. The site will be
perfect for community, youth and high school events, as well as collegiate
tournaments. The Julia Davis courts, along with Boise State s own Appleton
Tennis Complex, will position Boise State to bid on regional and national
tournaments.
Each of the six courts will be named for 25 years in the honor of community
donors to the project. With the gifts from the Herndon family and the Micron
Technology Foundation kicking off this project, and with Boise State
Athletics and the friends and family of Ron and Lotus Dibelius purchasing a
third court, three courts now remain for naming opportunities.
Those interested in contributing to the Julia Davis tennis complex project
are invited to contact Boise State s Ron Dibelius (ph:
