Boise State Radio Wins Three Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards
Journalist Elizabeth Wynne Johnson wins big

Boise State Radio has been honored with three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio-Television News Director’s Association. Coeur d’Alene-based North Idaho News Bureau reporter Elizabeth Wynne Johnson produced each of the award-winning stories. The awards were made in the Region 1/Small Market category that includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

Boise State Radio was recognized for three of Johnson’s reports: “Fisher Poets” in the Feature Reporting category, “Bountiful: The Women of Polygamy Speak Out” in the Hard News category and “Hemingway House” in the Writing category.

“Elizabeth’s work in the North Idaho Bureau has been stellar,” Boise State Radio General Manager John Hess said. “All of us here at Boise State Radio congratulate her on winning these awards.”

For her part, Johnson said she is “pleased and honored to see stories out of Idaho getting recognition throughout the region.”

Johnson has been a news reporter for Boise State Radio since 2004. Her work is regularly heard throughout the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle and Portland. In addition, she is a frequent contributor to National Public Radio. She has won numerous state and regional awards for her work in Idaho. These are her first Edward R. Murrow Awards from the RTNDA. Johnson’s education includes an undergraduate degree from Wellesley College and a master’s degree in documentary film and video production from Stanford University.
