Boise State University Names 20 Graduate Residential Scholars
for 2006-07 Academic Year
Thirteen returning students and seven newcomers comprise the second cohort
of Boise State University’s Graduate Residential Scholars Program (GRSP).
Standout graduate students from as nearby as Boise and Eagle and as far away
as China and Argentina are members of the program.
The 20 scholars are scheduled to arrive on the Boise State campus in
mid-August to begin the program with the start of the fall 2006 semester.
The Graduate Residential Scholars Program provides an enriched residential
experience for graduate students at Boise State. Scholars are selected using
criteria aimed at assembling a graduate residential community of highly
capable full-time students representing diverse academic disciplines and
personal backgrounds.
Each scholar is awarded a graduate assistantship and is responsible for
teaching or research activities designed to match student interests with the
faculty and programs of the home academic department. A GRSP award includes
an academic-year stipend, a tuition waiver, payment of resident fees, and a
rent-free residence. The total annual value of each award exceeds $26,000.
The scholars will live in a new 20-person graduate residential community
consisting of five four-bedroom apartments or quads in the University Square
housing development.
