Boise State University Celebrates Latino
Heritage Month During September
Boise State University is celebrating Latino Heritage Month throughout September
with a series of entertainment and cultural events, and the community is invited
to attend. All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted.

• Fiesta Independencia. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 15 on the Student Union patio.
Enjoy performances, speakers, food and learn more at information booths.
• “Tortilla Heaven.” 6 p.m. Sept. 15 in the Student Union Special Events Center.
$8 general, $5 Boise State students with ID. Tickets available through
Select-a-Seat, (208) 426-1494. “Tortilla Heaven” features Comedy Central regular
Jade Esteban Estrada telling a comedic, yet very real, story about three
generations of a Mexican family trying to relate to one another. Co-sponsored by
the Bilingual Education Student Organization.
• Se Habla Español luncheon. 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 in the Cultural Center, second
floor of the Student Union. Participants can bring their own lunches, and
dessert and drinks will be provided. Spanish speakers can enjoy good
conversation and visit with DJ Don Drave from Boise State’s University Pulse
radio station.
• Candidate Forum for the Latino Community. Shuttle leaves for the Nampa Civic
Center at 6 p.m. Sept. 20 from in front of the Student Union Building.
Participants will get a chance to participate in the forum, which features the
candidates for governor and superintendent of schools.
• “Rights on the Line, Vigilantes at the Border.” 4 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Student
Union Lookout Room. A presentation on the Minuteman project and the patrolling
of the U.S./Mexico border.
