Boise State's TechHelp to Present Business Expert Michael Stone

TechHelp, the Idaho Export Council and the Manufacturing Extension Partnership will present Growing Your International Business: Successful Export Strategies for Manufacturers featuring Michael Stone, a nationally recognized expert in issues affecting U.S. manufacturers, on Sept. 20 at Boise State University. The seminar is a must for CEOs and upper management of manufacturing companies that want to make strategic choices to accelerate export growth.

Growth opportunities for manufacturers are increasingly international. Consider that:
      - The value of the dollar has declined
      - Billions of new consumers in high-growth emerging economies have
          joined the global economy
      - Competition domestically is fiercer than ever

For these reasons and more, global markets are becoming both more attractive and critical to a company’s future. In response, CEOs and executives of small and mid-sized manufacturing firms must accelerate their growth in international markets. This seminar is designed to help companies grow their current export business to a new level.

The seminar will run from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Bishop Barnwell Room on the second floor of the Boise State Student Union Building. Free parking is available in the lot at University Drive and Bronco Circle. The cost of the seminar is $50 and includes a continental breakfast, luncheon and all seminar materials.

The program is based on compelling new research by Stone on the strategic choices of successful exporters. This seminar is uniquely focused on CEO-level strategic issues and management challenges, such as:
       - The commitment and mindset necessary to achieve rapid
            international growth
       - Best practices employed by successful exporters in such areas as
           planning, management and partner selection
       - The strategic advantages that drive export success

Attendees will gain valuable knowledge from the research and expert speakers and will study actual case examples of companies that are successfully growing globally. They will also network with other executives and with professionals from TechHelp, the Idaho Export Council and the U.S. Export Assistance Center.

Stone is president of Stone & Associates, a research and consulting firm based in Kennebunk, Maine, that serves client organizations in manufacturing markets. This seminar is based on the results of a recent study he completed that identified proven strategies used by successful manufacturers to compete against China and other low-cost countries.

As Idaho’s Manufacturing Extension Center and a partnership of the state’s three universities, TechHelp provides technical assistance, training and information to strengthen the competitiveness of Idaho manufacturers, processors and inventors. TechHelp is based locally at Boise State.

The Idaho Export Council is a statewide non-profit organization of community and business leaders involved in international business who share their knowledge and experience to help advance Idaho’s access to international markets.
