Boise State, ISU Partner for Master's
Nursing Programs
In a show of collaboration and support, Boise State University has signed a
Memorandum of Agreement with Idaho State University to better coordinate the
delivery of graduate nursing programs to Idaho students. While ISU retains the
primary health care education mission for the state, the two universities have a
shared emphasis in master’s programs in nursing. Boise State currently has the
largest nursing education program in Idaho.
“It is exciting that Boise State and Idaho State can collaborate on the delivery
of nursing education courses,” said Pam Springer, chair of the Boise State
Department of Nursing. “The state is facing a shortage of nurses reaching crisis
proportions. Collaborative efforts will help ensure we are being good stewards
of state funds and are providing high quality educational opportunities for
nursing students.”
The agreement, signed earlier this month, states that Boise State and ISU will
develop and agree upon a single core master’s in nursing curriculum, which will
eliminate unnecessary duplication. Students will be jointly enrolled at both
institutions, allowing them to take online classes from either school. The two
universities will focus on unique program options, such as Boise State’s
proposed master’s degree in public health nursing. That program is awaiting
State Board of Education approval.
