Boise State Student Club Earns National
Honors
The Boise State University chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha, a national honor society
for public administration, has been chosen to receive the 2006 Pi Alpha Alpha
Award of Excellence. This is the sixth year the award has been presented, and
the second time Boise State’s chapter has been chosen (it was also honored in
2002). In addition, Jan Mills received the Award of Excellence for advisers last
year.
This year’s award will be presented on Oct. 20 at the National Association of
Schools of Public Affairs and Administration luncheon in Minneapolis, Minn.
Professor Patti Fredericksen will represent the department at the award
ceremony.
The purpose of the award is to recognize excellence in programming and chapter
management in pursuit of Pi Alpha Alpha’s goals of scholarship, leadership, and
excellence in graduate education in public affairs and administration.
Chapter officers for the 2005-2006 academic year were Mollie Holt, president;
Rachel Wheatley, vice president; and Brad Smith, secretary/treasurer.

Idaho. For the ninth time in the last 10 years, Boise State University has set
an all-time state record with a fall enrollment of 18,876 students. Since 1996,
Boise State’s student population has increased 25 percent.
