Boise State Student Club Earns National Honors

The Boise State University chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha, a national honor society for public administration, has been chosen to receive the 2006 Pi Alpha Alpha Award of Excellence. This is the sixth year the award has been presented, and the second time Boise State’s chapter has been chosen (it was also honored in 2002). In addition, Jan Mills received the Award of Excellence for advisers last year.

This year’s award will be presented on Oct. 20 at the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration luncheon in Minneapolis, Minn. Professor Patti Fredericksen will represent the department at the award ceremony.

The purpose of the award is to recognize excellence in programming and chapter management in pursuit of Pi Alpha Alpha’s goals of scholarship, leadership, and excellence in graduate education in public affairs and administration.

Chapter officers for the 2005-2006 academic year were Mollie Holt, president; Rachel Wheatley, vice president; and Brad Smith, secretary/treasurer.
