Classic Performances Series to
Feature Ann Maurer for Sept. 30 Performance
Flutist Ann Maurer will perform during the Sept. 30 Classic Performances Series
at Boise State University. Dora Seres, the flutist who was scheduled to perform,
injured her hand and is unable to play. The performance is at 8 p.m. in the
Special Events Center, and the cost is $10 general and $5 for students, faculty,
staff, children 17 and younger and seniors 55 and older.
Maurer began her musical studies in Seattle under the direction of Dorothy
Bjarnason. She continued her studies in New York City, studying with esteemed
flutists Jeanne Baxtresser, Samuel Baron and Julius Banker.
She has been lauded by The New York Times as a “secure technician and an
assured, communicative interpreter.” Fanfare magazine says that “she is
technically superb in every way. Her tone is consistently attractive even in the
most treacherous passages, and she plays with great rhythmic drive and
impeccable phrasing.”
The Classic Performances Series is an annual series sponsored by Boise State
Student Activities. It brings world-class performers to the Boise State campus,
and has included visits from the Cincinnati Percussion Group, Naoko Takada, the
Florestan Trio and more. For more information, call (208) 426-1223.
