Boise State Women's Center to Display Clothesline Project

The Boise State University Women’s Center will host its annual Clothesline Project from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Oct. 5 and 6 on the Quad at the Boise campus and from 1-6 p.m. Oct. 4 at Boise State West in Nampa. The public is invited to decorate T-shirts in support of survivors of abuse from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in Boise and 1-4 p.m. in Nampa each day. Materials and shirts will be available.

The Clothesline Project, also sponsored by the Women’s and Children’s Alliance of Boise, is a visual display of a clothesline hung with dozens of T-shirts designed by survivors of physical, sexual or emotional violence. Survivors use their T-shirts as a canvas to document their stories of abuse and survival.

The Clothesline Project bears witness to acts of violence committed against women and also recognizes those who have died as a result of domestic or sexual abuse. It offers survivors support in their healing process and an outlet to express their pain, serving both as a celebration of their strength and an avenue to break the silence. The Clothesline Project also focuses on educating the public and providing solutions through individual action to prevent violence.

More information on The Clothesline Project is available from the Women’s Center at 426-4259 or
