Inquiry Night Brings BSU Writing
Project Alumni Together to Discuss Innovative Teaching
Local teachers will share their innovative teaching methods during Inquiry
Night, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Boise State Student Union Barnwell Room.
The event is free.
Inquiry Night will feature teachers who have participated in the Boise State
Writing Project, an offshoot of the National Writing Project. During Inquiry
Night, Boise State Writing Project alumni will give presentations on one of the
enduring questions in education: How do teachers keep students interested in
learning? Local teachers will explain how they enlivened required curriculum
through inquiry techniques used in the disciplines and by expert readers and
writers. In addition to the educators’ presentations, English professor and
Boise State Writing Project director Jeffrey Wilhelm will give a keynote speech
from 6:30-7 p.m.
The National Writing Project has long been regarded as the most influential and
successful grassroots teaching initiative in the country. The Boise State
Writing Project brings together educators in many different disciplines from
throughout the state. During an intensive summer session, they write, discuss
teaching methods and work on best practices and innovative methods.
