Boise State University
Cultural Center Celebrates Native American Heritage Month During November
The Cultural Center at Boise State University will celebrate Native American
Heritage Month during a series of events in November. All events are free and
open to the public.
• Nov. 7: Whitney Laughlin will speak to Native American, Hawaiian and Alaskan
students about graduate school opportunities. Laughlin is the founder and
director of College Horizons, a non-profit program that helps indigenous
students go to college and graduate school. 3:30 p.m., Cultural Center Lounge
(second floor of the Student Union).
• Nov. 15: “Mystery of the Maya.” This film explores the mystery behind how the
Maya were able to construct vast cities without the use of metal tools, beasts
of burden or even the wheel. 7 p.m., Student Union Jordan Ballroom.
• Nov. 16: The “S” word. This discussion will focus on efforts to remove the “S”
word from Idaho landmarks. 5 p.m., Cultural Center Lounge.
• Nov. 17: Native American bead workshop. 1 p.m., Cultural Center Lounge.
