Boise State University's Gene Harris Jazz Festival Endowment Night Brings in Scholarship Money

The Boise State University Gene Harris Jazz Festival will host Endowment Night beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Gamekeeper Lounge, the Reef, the Grove Hotel Ballroom and Hannah’s. Tickets are $12 general and $5 students through the Qwest Arena Box Office, 1-800-330-8497, or at the door.

Endowment Night kicks off the 2007 Gene Harris Jazz Festival Season. All proceeds will go to the Gene Harris Endowment, which provides scholarships for students to study music at Boise State University. This year’s lineup includes the Boise State Big Band with guest artist Dennis DiBlasio in a “Tribute to Maynard Ferguson” at the Grove Hotel Ballroom.

Other acts include the Justin Nielson Trio and John Jones at the Gamekeeper Lounge; Tom Shook and the Gene Harris All-Stars at the Grove Hotel Ballroom; The Ben Burdick Trio and an open mike event at the Reef; and other acts at Hannah’s.

The Gene Harris Jazz Festival will celebrate its 10th year with music events April 4-7. The festival brings jazz musicians to Boise for three nights of concerts and two days of student clinics and competitions.
