Professor Earns Nurse of the Year Award for Academic Education

Pat Taylor,
professor of nursing at Boise State University, was named 2006 Idaho Nurse of
the Year for Academic Education by the March of Dimes, Idaho Chapter. Nurses
from throughout Idaho were nominated in categories ranging from nursing
management to emergency care. Winners were honored at a Nov. 11 gala award
ceremony at the DoubleTree Riverside in Boise. This was the fourth year for the
award program.
Taylor serves as the Boise State Nursing Department’s associate chair for
student affairs. She is the recipient of a College of Health Sciences Excellence
in Teaching Award and an Associated Students of Boise State University faculty
recognition, and has been recognized as a distinguished faculty member by a Top
10 Scholar. She received her master of science in nursing from Idaho State
University and a master of education from the College of Idaho. Taylor teaches
critical care, pathophysiology and medical/surgical nursing and is nationally
certified as a critical care nurse. She is also one of only two people in Idaho
trained to teach the basic parish nursing preparation course, which teaches
nurses to look at the body, mind and spirit of parishioners in different
faith-based congregations.
