This Week at Boise State

The following are upcoming events at Boise State University for the week of Nov. 19-25. Please note that all events are subject to change. For updated information on all events, visit http://events.boisestate.edu.

EVENTS OF SPECIAL NOTE:
Thanksgiving Holiday. No classes Nov. 20-24; Boise State offices closed Nov. 23-24.

November: Native American Heritage Month. The Cultural Center will celebrate with a series of events. All events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Boise State Cultural Center at 426-5950.

EXHIBITIONS:
Through Dec. 2: “Visual Babble: BFA Thesis Exhibition.” Visual Arts Center. This exhibition is the culminating activity for bachelor of fine arts students, and features works in sculpture, photography, painting, graphic design, illustration, ceramics and metals. Call 426-3994.

Through Dec. 1: “Fade to Red Exhibition.” Student Union Gallery. This exhibition captures the gamut of emotions HIV and AIDS conjure both domestically and throughout the world. The works move viewers to action and toward a better understanding of HIV and AIDS. Call 426-4636.

SUNDAY, NOV. 19
Brian Regan “You Too” Tour. Morrison Center. 7 p.m. Comedian Regan performs at sold-out theaters across the country. His television résumé includes “The Tonight Show,” “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Comedy Central Presents Brian Regan,” “The Jon Stewart Show,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and others. Hymns of Thanksgiving. Taco Bell Arena. 7:30 p.m. This community event celebrates the uniquely American holiday with music and narration focused on the themes of Thanksgiving. Music directors Jim Jirak and Linda Berg will conduct the choir, and Marcellus Brown will conduct the orchestra. Gov. Jim Risch and First Lady Vicki Risch will provide narration. Free. TUESDAY, NOV. 21
Recruiting Conference. Simplot-Micron Technology Center Room 210. 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The Office of Admissions and College of Engineering are co-hosting a Web conference on “Understanding and Recruiting Latino/a Students.” Free. Call 426-1388.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22
Flu Shot Clinic. Health and Wellness Center. 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Walk-in patients will be accepted only during the Wednesday clinics. Students may call 426-1459 for an appointment to receive the vaccine at other times. Departments or clubs that wish to receive the vaccine as a group are asked to call Betsy Johnson at 426-2354. $19 for Boise State students, $22 for staff.

SATURDAY, NOV. 25
Armchair Football. Student Union Brava! Stage. Begins 30 minutes before kick-off. Watch the Broncos play Nevada on a big screen and enjoy free food and prizes. Free. Call 426-4636

Riders in the Sky. Morrison Center. 7:30 p.m. After years of requests, the entire gang from Tumbleweed Valley is back in the saddle and taking the golden age of radio across the country with a new touring presentation of Riders Radio Theatre. THURSDAY, NOV. 30
Gene Harris Jazz Festival Endowment Night. The Owyhee Plaza Hotel, the Reef and Hannah’s. 5 p.m. This Club Night event will feature the Boise State Big Band in “A Tribute to Maynard Ferguson” with guest artist Dennis DeBlasio. Tickets through the Qwest Arena Box Office are $12 general, $5 students. Call 1-800-330-8497.

‘You, Me and Dupree.” Special Events Center. 7 p.m. Student Programs Board presents this 2006 film starring Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson and Matt Dillon. Film is rated PG-13. Free for Boise State students, faculty and staff. $1 for public. Call 426-1728.

FRIDAY, DEC. 1
The 12 Days of Fitness. Student Recreation Center. December 1-12. The Fitness Program wants to help you stay motivated and stress-free this December. Holiday Auction. Student Union Jordan D Ballroom. 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Boise State Association of Office Professionals presents this luncheon with a live auction, silent auction and gift table. SATURDAY, DEC. 2
“The Adventures of Silence.” Albertsons Library McCain Room. 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dragon fights, feast music and battles will resound throughout the stacks of library books during this presentation by Boise State’s Medieval Drama Guild. This event also takes place Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Free. Call 426-1213.

Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. Special Events Center. 8 p.m. The Minneapolis Guitar Quartet will perform as part of the December Classic Performances Series. The Quartet, founded in 1986, is one of the world’s leading guitar ensembles.
