Boise State Bookstore to Sell Official WAC Championship, Fiesta Bowl Merchandise

Boise State football fans will have the chance to show their school colors and celebrate the Broncos’ fifth consecutive Western Athletic Conference championship and probable Bowl Championship Series (BCS) berth with the sale of official shirts, hats and other merchandise at the Boise State Bookstore and Bronco Shop.

Bronco clothing — including T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats commemorating the football team’s expected appearance in the BCS’ Fiesta Bowl — and other items are now available for pre-order purchase online. Online pre-orders can be made by going online to Boise State’s main Web page — at boisestate.edu — or the Bronco athletics page. From there, click on the Bookstore menu button.

If the Broncos are invited to the Fiesta Bowl, as expected, the Bookstore will begin filling the online orders immediately following the announcement on Sunday night.

“We are speculating the bowl announcement will place Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl,” said Kim Thomas, director of the Boise State Bookstore. “These (online) orders will not be shipped until after the announcement on Sunday. If Boise State does not end up in the Fiesta Bowl, all pre-orders will be canceled.”

In addition, the Bookstore will have a temporary Bronco Shop set up inside Taco Bell Arena selling WAC championship and BCS merchandise starting at 5 p.m. this Sunday during Boise State’s planned celebration of its Fiesta Bowl invitation. The official BCS pairings will be announced on national television at 6 p.m. Sunday. Boise State is expected to meet the winner of this Saturday’s Nebraska-Oklahoma Big 12 championship game in the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Ariz., on New Year’s Day.

The full line of all merchandise will be available on Dec. 4. Clothing and other items celebrating the Boise State football team’s 2006 WAC championship and perfect regular season are now available both online and at the Boise State Bookstore and Bronco Shop in the Student Union and the Boise State West Bookstore in Nampa.

According to Thomas, when the University of Utah earned a berth in the 2004 Fiesta Bowl, the school’s bookstore sales increased by $1.5 million that fiscal year due in large part to the sale of merchandise commemorating the Utes’ unbeaten season and Fiesta Bowl appearance. Thomas also noted that the Bookstore and Bronco Shop are the only retail outlets where the proceeds go directly back to the university for scholarships and other expenses.

The Bookstore and Bronco Shop will be open for extended hours during the first three weeks of December. On Saturdays and Sundays, the stores will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. On Monday through Friday, the hours will be from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. In addition, iPods with the Bronco logo are on sale at BroncoTEC, the computer store in the Student Union.
