This Week at Boise State
The following are upcoming events at Boise State University for the week of Dec.
3-9. Please note that all events are subject to change. For updated information

EVENTS OF SPECIAL NOTE:
Sunday, Dec. 3: Bowl Championship Series Selection Celebration. Taco Bell
Arena. 6 p.m. The Boise State University Athletics Department invites the public
to this celebration in conjunction with the announcement of the BCS game
pairings. The selection show, which will be broadcast live by Fox Sports, will
be shown on the Bronco Vision screens. Bronco football players and coaches will
be in attendance. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Free. Call 426-5391.
EXHIBITIONS:
Dec. 4-7: Civic Engagement Poster Exhibition. Student Union Gallery.
7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily. This exhibition highlights how service-learning students
are applying their coursework to metropolitan community issues, making a
difference in the lives of others and practicing active citizenship. Reception
Dec. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Free. Call 426-4636.
Dec. 9-Jan. 5: Annual High School Art Exhibit. Student Union Gallery. 7
a.m.-11 p.m. daily. Eleven local high schools will show the work of student

SUNDAY, DEC. 3
The 12 Days of Fitness. Student Recreation Center. Through Dec. 12. The
Fitness Program wants to help you stay motivated and stress-free this December.
Complete a stress-relieving activity each day of the “12 Days of Fitness” and
enter to win prizes. Registration through Dec. 5 at the REC service desk. Free.

Family Holiday Concert. Morrison Center Main Hall. 7:30 p.m. The whole
family can enjoy the sounds of the holiday season. This year’s concert will
feature performances by the University Orchestra, the Trombone Ensemble, the
Faculty Brass Quintet, the University Choral Groups, the Flute Ensemble and the
Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble. Tickets are $7 general, $5 seniors, $1 students through

Photo Op: “The Adventures of Silence.” Albertsons Library McCain Room.
7:30 p.m. Dragon fights, feast music and battles will resound throughout the
stacks of library books during this presentation by Boise State’s Medieval Drama

TUESDAY, DEC. 5
Christmas Choral Concert. Cathedral of the Rockies, 11th Street and Hays.
7:30 p.m. Ring in the holiday season with a delightful mix of holiday music.

“Artist Skills Crash Course.” Student Union Hatch A Ballroom. 1-2:30 p.m.
Artist Marie Watt will teach a class focusing on how artists can define and

Food for Thought. Student Union Lookout Room. Noon. Konstanty Gebert,
journalist and solidarity activist, will present “Poland: From Solidarity’s

“Nine in Design” Show. The Loft, 622 W. Idaho Street. 6-9 p.m. Nine Boise
State up-and-coming graphic designers will present a portfolio show. Attendees

Pianist Kori Bond Performance. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 7:30 p.m.
Bond, an associate professor of piano at Idaho State University, will perform
composer Dmitri Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues, Opus 87. The event will mark
the centennial of Shostakovich’s birth. Tickets are $5 general, $3 seniors and
free to students of all ages and Boise State faculty and staff at the door. Call

All-Campus Band. Student Union Special Events Center. 7:30 p.m. The
70-member All-Campus Band Ensemble presents “Celebration and Majesty,” featuring

FRIDAY, DEC. 8
International Connections Luncheon Seminar Series. Student Union Lookout
Room. 12:30-1:30 p.m. Brian Wampler, assistant professor of political science,
will discuss Brazil’s famous participatory budgeting programs. Sponsored by
Albertsons Library and Boise State International Programs. Free. Call 426-3652.
Student Dance Concert. Morrison Center Stage II. 7:30 p.m. The Boise
State University Winter Student Dance Concert features original choreography by
faculty and students. This event also takes place Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, DEC. 9
Clay and Fire Exhibition and Sale. Visual Arts Center Gallery 1 in the
Liberal Arts Building. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. This event also takes place Dec. 10-11.
Hundreds of high-quality ceramics, ranging from the elegant to the exotic, will
be on sale. Proceeds benefit the Boise State Visiting Artists in Ceramics

Photo Op: “Holidays Around the World.” Student Union Jordan Ballroom. 11
a.m.-3 p.m. This multi-cultural event includes crafts, performances,

Student Chamber Recital. Morrison Center Recital Hall. 2 p.m. The Boise
State University Student Chamber recital will feature a string quartet, clarinet
quintet, oboe quartet, clarinet trio, flute quartet and brass quintet playing
the music of Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and more. $5 general, $3 seniors, free

Photo Op: “Boise Tuba Christmas.” The Grove, near the outdoor Christmas
tree. 3:30 p.m. Tuba Christmas will also perform at 4:30 p.m. at the Statehouse
Rotunda. Members of Tuba Christmas are baritone, euphonium, sousaphone and tuba

“Tim and Harvey, Together Again.” Morrison Center Main Hall. 2 and 5 p.m.
They shared a sound stage together for a decade on CBS’ wildly popular “The
Carol Burnett Show.” Now, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman are sharing a concert

The Nutcracker. Morrison Center. 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. The classic ballet
