Boise State Alumni
Association to Host Fiesta Bowl Block Party for Bronco Fans in Tempe Dec. 31
Boise State football fans who make the trip to Arizona for the Jan. 1 Tostitos
Fiesta Bowl will be able to celebrate New Year’s Eve and the Broncos’ first
appearance in the Bowl Championship Series in grand style at the Insight Fiesta
Bowl Block Party in downtown Tempe, Ariz., from 4 p.m.-midnight Dec. 31.
A highlight for Bronco fans during the festivities will be a pep rally hosted
by the Boise State Alumni Association and the Bronco Athletic Association at 4:30 p.m. on the main stage at Tempe
Beach Park. The pep rally emcee will be Mark Johnson of KTVB, which is scheduled
to provide a live broadcast of the event from 4:30-5 p.m. It will include
remarks by Bronco coaches, Boise State President Bob Kustra and other speakers.
The program also will feature honored guests from the Special Olympics Winter
Games, which will be held in Boise in 2009, and Special Olympics Arizona.
Admission to the Insight Fiesta Bowl Block Party is $20. In addition to the
Boise State pep rally, the events include two fireworks shows and live music
provided by more than 40 bands. Featured acts on the main stage include
alternative rock band Third Eye Blind and pop singer, songwriter, and pianist
Vanessa Carlson, best known for the single “A Thousand Miles” from her 2002
platinum-selling debut album “Be Not Nobody.”
