Boise State To Honor Fiesta
Bowl Champ Broncos with Parade, Statehouse Salute on January 20
Boise State University will honor the Bronco football team for its Tostitos
Fiesta Bowl win and undefeated season on Jan. 20 with a parade and a “Statehouse
Salute” on the steps of the Capitol. The parade begins at 3 p.m. and the public
is invited.
Other events honoring the football team on Jan. 20 will be held on campus that
late afternoon and evening in conjunction with the Hawaii-Boise State men’s
basketball game in Taco Bell Arena.
Details on all the events are still in the planning stages.
The parade, which is being coordinated in cooperation with the Office of the
Governor and the Boise Mayor’s Office, will start on the Boise State campus and
travel north on Capitol Boulevard to the Statehouse. The parade will culminate
with the public Statehouse Salute. The salute will include remarks from
university and civic leaders.
From 5-7 p.m. a pregame autograph session will be held at Boise State’s Caven-Williams
Sports Complex. Bronco players and coaches will be on hand to sign autographs
and the Fiesta Bowl trophy will be on display. A ceremony honoring coach Chris
Petersen and the Broncos will be held at halftime of the Hawaii-Boise basketball
game, and a postgame autograph session featuring the Bronco players is also
scheduled.
Further details on the Jan. 20 events will be posted on Boise State’s Web site
as they are confirmed.
