Free Tickets for 'Mythbusters' Event Feb. 25 at Boise State
University Gone Today in 15 Minutes
Free tickets for the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters” event at 2 p.m. Feb. 25
in the Taco Bell Arena at Boise State University sold out in 15 minutes this
morning. The tickets were handed out today at three locations and were also
distributed to groups who had earlier sent in requests for seats.
While the 3,000 tickets are now gone, event organizers say there may still be
some open seating available on Feb. 25 if some of those who have already
obtained tickets don’t attend.
“The enthusiasm for the ‘MythBusters’ has been just incredible. We’re excited
and pleased so many people are interested in attending, and we wish that we had
enough seating to accommodate everyone,” said Cheryl Schrader, dean of the
College of Engineering.
Boise State’s College of Engineering, along with the Micron Technology
Foundation and a number of other corporate presenters, is bringing “MythBusters”
to Boise as part of the college’s yearlong 10th anniversary celebration and
National Engineers Week.
“Micron believes that supporting math, science and engineering education is
critical to cultivating tomorrow’s technology leaders,” said Mark Durcan, Micron
chief operating officer and National Engineers Week presenter. “In celebration
of National Engineers Week, Micron is delighted to help bring MythBusters to
Boise to spark a passion for engineering in our local youth.”
The presentation on Feb. 25 will feature Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, hosts of
the Discovery Channel’s “MythBusters.” It includes a lecture featuring Savage
and Hyneman, a video of “bloopers” from the show, and an opportunity for
audience members to ask questions. No myths will be busted onstage.
Since “MythBusters” first premiered on the Discovery Channel in January 2003,
millions of households have tuned in each week to watch the cast and crew build
amazing contraptions which they frequently destroy in the process of confirming
or busting a wide variety of urban myths, folklore and legends.
“I can’t think of better amazing ambassadors to reach out to students with the
message that engineering is fun and fascinating,” said Schrader.
