Six Talkin' Broncos Named to All-Conference Team
Six members of the Boise State University debate and speech team were named to
the 2006-2007 Division I All-Northwest Forensics Conference Team, announced this
week. This is especially impressive considering the team attended only one of
the three sanctioned tournaments, choosing instead to travel to tournaments
outside the NFC.
Overall, Boise State earned the second-highest score in a single tournament,
with 191.12. Awards are based on the number of points students earn in
competition at NFC tournaments. The top 10 percent of all competitors in a
division are named to the All-Conference first team and the next 10 percent are
named to the All-Conference second team.
All-Conference Talkin’ Broncos are:
• NFC Division I First Team: Katy Jibben (senior, Boise) and
Barton Jackson (senior, Eagle).
• NFC Division I Second Team: Regan Charlton (freshman, Inkom),
Chad Judy (junior, Idaho Falls), Wayne Rysavy (senior,
Ramstein, Germany) and Sean Watson (sophomore, Kimberly)
A new award category this year was the Mythical Final Round, which names the top
students representing the best in open division events in the region. Final
Round honorees included: Jibben, platform speaking (memorized) and
persuasive speaking; Judy, oral interpretation; Jackson, impromptu
speaking; Rysavy and Watson, communication analysis; and
Charlton, informative speaking.
In addition, both Jibben and Jackson earned honorable mention in
the best open division competitors category.
