Boise State University Hosts Lecture on 'One Hundred Years of
Solitude'
Boise State University will host “Nature and Technology in ‘One Hundred Years of
Solitude,’ ” a lecture by Raymond L. Williams, at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in the
Student Union Hatch D Ballroom. The lecture is free and open to the public and
presented by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and the Cultural
Center.
Williams is a professor at the University of California, Riverside. An
internationally recognized scholar of the Colombian novel and contemporary Latin
American fiction, Williams was twice a Fulbright professor in Colombia and has
taught at the University of Colorado, Washington University and the University
of Chicago. His lecture will present an ecocritical analysis of Gabriel Garcia
Marquez’s internationally acclaimed novel.
Williams’ recent studies include “The Twentieth-Century Spanish American Novel”
and “The Postmodern Novel in Latin America.” For more information about his
