Boise State Dinner to Raise Funds for Scholarship in Honor of
Retired Professor Jim Weatherby
Boise State University has established the Jim Weatherby Scholarship Fund to
provide assistance to students entering the master of public administration
program. A dinner to raise funds for the scholarship and to honor Weatherby’s
many years of service to the university and community will be held at 6 p.m.
April 2 in the Student Union Jordan Ballroom. Idaho’s current and past governors
all have been invited to attend.
Organizers said their goal is to raise $25,000 for an endowed scholarship.
Tickets are $100 per person, or $1,000 for a reserved table for eight. All but

Weatherby, who taught at Boise State from 1983 until his retirement in 2006, was
director of the university’s Public Policy Center for many years, and served as
a commentator and consultant on government, politics and elections for radio,
television and print. He is the author of two books: “The Urban West: Managing
Growth and Decline” and “Governing Idaho: Politics, People and Power.” He was
executive director of the Association of Idaho Cities and a member of the board
of directors of the National League of Cities.
