Boise State University Offers Intensive, Week-Long Management Training Courses in Sun Valley

The Center for Professional Development at Boise State University will offer the Program for Management Development, a one-week residential leadership development program for high potential managers, executives and leaders, May 14-19 at the Sun Valley Lodge in Sun Valley.

The course is offered once each year in May and is designed for managers who need to develop a broader-based understanding of the different business functions and how they work together. Past participants have held a variety of positions, including functional department manager, engineering or technical manager, production and operations manager, top administrator and leader in government or non-profits.

Participants will gain insight into the interdependence of the various organizational functions, grasp the critical changes that affect today’s business environment, practice business decision-making, examine their own management and leadership strategies and network with other participants and faculty. Those who have attended past sessions have said they highly valued feedback they received from those they work with in the training sessions and business simulation activities.

“BSU’s Program for Management Development provided our company with timely, relevant management and leadership training that I have been able to use extensively,” said past participant Dean Park, president of Biomark Inc. “This program teaches knowledge that is more than academic, it can be applied.”

Topics include strategies for becoming a better manager, financial forecasting and budgeting, ethics, marketing, financial performance, the power of teams, negotiation and more. Sessions are developed around discussion, exercises and the use of a business simulation. Because participants bring with them a great reservoir of expertise, talent and experience, they are encouraged to share their expertise with others through class discussion and networking.

The program fee is $4,350 and includes a private room at the lodge for the week, most meals and all instructional materials. Registrations are due by April 13. Complete registrations and full fee payment received before April 2 will qualify for a $300 discount.
