Boise State Summer Camps Cover a Variety of Interests
Boise State University offers a wide range of summer camps to meet just about
any interest. Camps are geared for ages 5-high school and range from music,
theater and dance to sports, outdoor adventure and academics. Registration dates
vary, so be sure to check individual listings closely.
This year’s offerings include:
June 10-15
Idaho Engineering Science Camp. For students entering grades 9-10. $400.
This overnight camp shows that science and engineering can be fun. Hands-on
activities and projects encourage self-discovery, cooperative learning, critical
thinking and problem solving. Participants work in teams and are mentored by
College of Engineering students. Live on campus in a college dormitory under the
supervision of camp staff. All food, housing and recreational activities are

June 11-13
Little Bronco Girls’ Basketball Camp. Ages 6-10. $130. 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
This camp will concentrate on basic essential skills such as shooting, ball
handling, passing, defense, rebounding, cutting, screening, etc. Call 426-4019.

Little Bronco soccer camp. Boys and girls ages 6-8. 6-$70. 7:30 p.m. Call

Striker/keeper camp. Boys and girls ages 9 and up. $100. 6:30-8:30 p.m. Call

Chamber Music Camp. For students in grades 7-12. $175 plus housing and meals
if needed, with a discount for students who have attended three or more
sessions. $85 for half-days, grades 10-12. String, woodwind, percussion,
keyboard, brass, jazz improvisation and vocal. Conducted in the Morrison Center,
curriculum includes opera theater, scenes from musicals, music theory, chamber
ensemble, camp choir, group lessons, music appreciation, master classes,
concerts and planned group recreation. Application deadline May 25. For more

Bronco Outdoor Adventure Camp: By Land and Water. Ages 11-14. $289. 9 a.m.-3
p.m. Adventure Camps teach the skills necessary to participate in outdoor
activities in and around the Boise area. This session focuses on the skills of
tying-in to a harness, belaying and scaling skill-appropriate climbing routes.

Boise State summer youth sports programs. Ages: swimming 5-14, gymnastics
6-14, billiards 10-14, all others 8-14. Cost $45-$55 per activity. Basketball,
bowling, gymnastics, lacrosse, pocket billiards, racquetball, rock climbing,
swimming, table tennis, tennis, weight training and “multi-sport,” including
badminton, floor hockey and pickle ball. Signup starts 7:30-11:30 a.m. April 28
in Room 215 of the Kinesiology Building and continues 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Monday-Friday starting May 1 in Room 209 of the Kinesiology Building. Call

Boise State University Summer Academy. For students entering grades 2-6. A
five-week, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. program. Students participate in the
enrichment of academic and computer skills, arts and crafts, and various
physical activities. Presented by Boise State Center for School Improvement and

Boise State University Middle-Level Adventure Academy. For students entering
grades 7-9. A five-week, Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. program. Students engage in
a variety of adventure-based activities. Students use their bikes as the main
mode of transportation and are away from campus most of the day. Presented by
Boise State Center for School Improvement and Policy Studies. Enrollment begins

Bronco golf camp. For boys and girls ages 8-18, all levels. $220 ($225 after
May 12) includes lunch and a snack. Held from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Falcon Crest Golf

June 15-16
e-Girls. An overnight adventure for girls entering grades 10-11 exploring
engineering and technical careers and opportunities. Free. Workshops, led by the
Society of Women Engineers professionals and college students, may include:
biomechanics of high-heeled shoes, packaging and the environment, fun with
chemistry, designer bridges, rocket into space, computer networking, and a world
of career choices. Enrollment limited to 40 girls, with priority to early and

Bronco high school football camp. For individuals and teams entering grades

Gene Harris Jazz Camp. For beginning and developing jazz instrumental

This camp focuses on jazz vocabulary, history, improvisational theory, listening
skills, forms, tunes and performance. Continuing education credit available.

Ages 11-14. $389 each session. Adventure Camps teach the skills necessary to
participate in outdoor activities in and around the Boise area. These sessions
focus on rock-climbing, kayaking and rafting. The overnight portion of the week

June 18-June 30
Summer DanceFest 2007. Ages 12 and up; audition required. Cost varies
depending on schedule. Conducted in the Morrison Center, this camp consists of
two weeks of workshops for dancers at an intermediate to advanced technique
level. Features a complete curriculum in ballet, jazz, modern and choreography
taught by internationally known instructors. Includes a series of public
performances at the end of the workshop featuring works by DanceFest faculty and
guest choreographers. Summer DanceFest Choreography Festival performances at 7
p.m. Fri. and Sat. June 29 and June 30 in Morrison Center Stage II. Housing
option available. Presented by the Boise State Theatre Arts Department.

Idaho All-Star Band. This camp is open to current band students entering
grades 8-12 and includes a performance at the International Fiddle Festival
Parade in Weiser. $75. Applications, available from local band directors, are

Youth football camp. Ages 6-13. $125. 5-8 p.m. June 21; 9 a.m.-noon June
22-23 on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium and the Caven Williams Sports Complex.
Emphasis is on developing football skills at every position: kicker, punter,
