Poet Karen Volkman to Read as Part of Boise State's MFA Reading
Series
Poet Karen Volkman will present a reading at 7:30 p.m. April 6 at Liberal Arts
Room 106. Volkman’s appearance is part of the Boise State University MFA Reading
Series and is free and open to the public.
Volkman is the author of “Spar,” winner of the James Laughlin Award and the Iowa
Poetry Prize, and “Crash’s Law,” which was selected for the National Poetry
Series by poet Heath McHugh. Her poems have appeared in numerous journals and
anthologies, including “The Best American Poetry” and “The Pushcart Prize
Anthology.” She is the recipient of awards and fellowships from the National
Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Society of America, the MacDowell Colony,
Yaddo, and the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
Free and open to the public, the MFA Reading Series brings nationally known
authors and poets to the Boise State campus. Past speakers include Rick Bass,
Chris Offutt, Rae Armantrout, Michael Palmer, Alice Notley, Joy Williams and
Denis Johnson.
