Boise State's Pi Kappa Delta Chapter Earns Medal for Video

The Pi Kappa Delta national honorary society awarded Boise State University a silver medal in the Oral History Video competition at the organization’s national convention held in Mount Pleasant, Mich., earlier this month.

The video history, produced by Boise State’s Pi Kappa Delta chapter in conjunction with University Television Productions, chronicles the involvement in speech and debate of Bethine Church and her late husband, U.S. Senator Frank Church. Bethine Church competed in debate and speech for the Boise Junior College forensics team in the 1940s. Sen. Church won the national American Legion Oratorical Contest in 1941 and was a champion debater at Boise High School and Stanford University. After graduating from Stanford Law School, he returned to Boise and was an adjunct instructor teaching speech and debate courses at Boise Junior College. The video highlights Sen. and Bethine Church’s lifelong passion for and support of speech and debate education.
